Rihanna's Super Bowl Performance Causes FCC Outrage Over 'Pornographic Content', Set to Perform 'Lift Me Up' at Oscars!

Rihanna's halftime performance at Super Bowl LVII apparently pissed off some folks. So much so, complaints came flooding in to the Federal Communications Commission, with outraged viewers saying that RiRi's set had “pornographic content” on display. [inserts eye roll]

Details on the complaints, new photos of the new mom with her adorable son overseas, and information on her next big gig can be found inside...

Complaints about major TV events are as predictable as rainy days in Seattle or a new season of “The Bachelor.” And this year's Super Bowl Halftime Show, featuring the one and only Rihanna, was no exception.

As TMZ reports, the FCC received a flood of 103 complaints about the broadcast on February 12th, with almost all of them directed at Rihanna's performance. One viewer was so outraged that they claimed to have turned off their TV due to the "pornographic content" on display.

Chile…

"I don't care what someone worships but children shouldn't be exposed to pornography and as an adult I don't wish to see it ... Where has decency gone? How about respect for others and self?,” read one complaint, comparing Rih’s performance to Kim Petras and Sam Smith's performance at the Grammys.

But it wasn't just one disgruntled viewer. More “Karens” chimed in to complain about the "overtly sexual dancing" in the performance, with some suggesting that it was inappropriate for children. One person even went as far as to describe in graphic detail Rih's cheek-spreading and "labia-rubbing" moves.

During the performance, the Fenty Beauty honcho didn’t do much dancing, which we later found out was due to her being pregnant with her second child.

While it may seem like a lot of complaints, it's nothing compared to the infamous wardrobe malfunction of 2004 that saw Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl halftime show draw a whopping 540,000 complaints. So, while some may have been offended by Rihanna's performance, it looks like it will take a lot more than that to beat the original halftime show scandal!

In other Rihanna news…

The mom-to-be again is set to take the stage at the Super Bowl of movies - the Oscars!

The Barbadian superstar will be performing her hit song "Lift Me Up" from the Oscar-nominated film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. That's right, not only did she slay the halftime show game, but she's also up for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, alongside Tems, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Göransson.

This is Rihanna's very first Oscar nomination, and with Lady Gaga as one of her competitors, it's bound to be an epic showdown.

So mark your calendars because this is a performance you won't want to miss!

The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will go down on March 12, 2023, held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Before her big gig...

Rihanna (who celebrated her 35th birthday a few days ago), her man A$AP Rocky, and their adorable son (whose name they haven't revealed yet) were spotted touching down in Milan, Italy.
