"Classic Man" Jidenna Talks Gay Rumors....And Why Janelle Monae Keeps Her Clothes On

In his latest interview, "Classic Man" Jidenna opens up about his sexuality (he loves women) and defends Janelle Monae's comments about "male consumption" and keeping her clothes on.  Watch it inside...

Jidenna, who's riding high on the charts with his Janelle Monae collab "Yoga", sat down for an interview with VLADTV where he found himself addressing sexuality rumors, defending Janelle (the head honcho of the Wondaland Records label he's on) and explaining why he likes to wear suits. 

Yeah, we threw a few  side eyes at the interview questions.  Still, he handled it nicely, and actually schooled DJ Vlad on Black culture, being a gentleman and why it's "manly" to groom yourself.  Highlights:

On Janelle Monae's decision to keep her clothes on and refrain from "Male consumption":  

"I think that there's a certain norm in heterosexual manhood where we just want to see the woman without any clothes on. I mean we live in a porn culture.  I mean, I want to see women without their clothes on.  (He's responded to Twitter users who says Janelle should get sexier)

But to say that a woman can't be soulful, whatever that means, cause I do believe that people have souls, I'm not sure what he meant about her being too soulful.  I think she meant I'm not here to be consumed and eaten up and gobbled up by men the way porn women are.  I have something to say.  I'm a full artist, I a full human, I'm a full woman."

(at 4:35) On his response to gay rumors (sidebar - He says he hasn't actually gotten any gay rumors yet -but the interviewer DJ Vlad is clearly reaching):

"I am (into women) but I have no problem with people assuming (the gay rumor) because I have no problem with people picking who they love. You love who you love. I happen to just love a lot of women.  You know what's funny about that, I had assumed that people would talk about sexuality but the funny thing is, the era which I'm inspired by , the different eras I'm inspired by - the men groomed.  Actually the manly men, the gangstas were the MOST well-groomed.  Because they had the most money."
