Southside With You will be hitting a movie or tv screen -- it's not clear just yet -- to give us the backstory on one of our favorite YBF couples, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Thanks to People.com, we can now see the first stills.
Get On Up star Tika Sumpter looks preppy chic as a young Michelle Robinson before she took Barack's last name. Newcomer Parker Sawyers has the khakis and button down on point as the young legal intern turned community organizer Barack Obama.
Deadline says about the storyline:
Southside With You will tell the story of that fateful summer afternoon in 1989 when the future president meet his first lady. The two were working in a corporate law firm in the south side of Chicago when Michelle, then 25, was assigned to mentor a 27-year-old Barack Obama.
The two Chicagoans (with President O. being both a Hawaii native and Chicago resident) went on their first date in the summer of 1989 to see Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing, and in the movie, we'll get to see how it (supposedly) played out.
We hope Parker gets this accent down, because the newbie is a British import who just nabbed the role this past May! We're on board for this one.
