One of the most highly anticipated movies of the year made it to theaters over the weekend. And the official box office numbers have come in.
The Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyez On Me, did way better than it was predicted to do. Movie analyst predicted the film about Pac’s life to range between $17 million to $20 million for its opening weekend. Well, it did better than that.
All Eyez On Me raked in a cool $27.1 million for its opening weekend, coming in third place behind Cars 3 and Wonder Woman. Its debut weekend was pretty solid as the film was made on a $45 million budget.
Several movie critics bashed the film for a lackluster storyline and failing to capture the full essence of the Hip Hop icon. However, some moviegoers gave the film an A-minus CinemaScore. It didn’t do too well on Rotten Tomatoes either, nabbing a 69% audience score and 23% on the Tomatometer.
