"The Real" co-host Loni Love is about to develop her very own comedy series! Meanwhile, Sanaa Lathan will be hitting our television screens in the highly-anticipated Nappily Ever After film this fall. Deets inside...
Loni Love is having a come up!
"The Real" co-host has signed an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. And now, she's working on her first project.
The comedienne is developing her very own comedy series that's based on her infectious persona as a "thriving single woman."
As expected, she's over the moon about it!
“I am thrilled to be developing a comedy with Warner Bros. as I continue to co-host The Real,” Loni Love said about her new project. “My life’s work is all about entertaining, inspiring and helping people become the best they can be.”
Deadline reports:
Love is a self-made woman who grew up in Detroit’s Brewster-Douglas Housing Project. She received her Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Prairie View A&M and worked as an engineer before kicking off her standup comedy career.
Her recent film credits include Mother’s Day and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.
She isn't showing any signs of slowing down on daytime television either. "The Real" has been ordered for two more seasons.
Also on the way...
We've been waiting and now it's almost here! Nappily Ever After is about to grace the TV waves.
The modern day woman's film, Nappily Ever After, is an adaptation of the best-selling novel with the same name, written by Trisha R. Thomas. And it's coming to Netflix on September 21st!
“The film follows a woman with a seemingly flawless life — a great job, a handsome boyfriend who’s a doctor, and a meticulously maintained coiffure. But after an accident at the hair salon, each of these things starts to unravel, and Violet begins to realize that she was living the life she thought she was supposed to live, not the one that she really wanted," according to Variety.
This woman’s hair will alter everything in her life as she knows it. Every black woman knows that life. Sanaa knows too. She shaved her head bald for the role.

Not only is Sanaa starring in the film, she’s also producing it. Director Haifaa Al-Mansour will helm the film with Marc Platt, Tracey Bing, and Jared Leboff producing alongside the YBF actress.
Nappily Ever After is a passion project for Tracey Bing and she’s the one who brought the project to Netflix. Tracey produced the Barack and Michelle Obama love story film, Southside With You. Let's hope this one fares a little better.
