Missy Elliott is being recognized for her songwriting abilities with a HUGE honor, plus Ella Mai gear ups for her "Saturday Night Live" debut. Deets inside...
Missy Elliott penned some of our favorite bops that are legit classics (don't argue with us), and now, she's being recognized for her incredible talent.
The musical icon just made history as the first female rapper to be nominated for the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame. Woot! Songwriters are eligible for induction after writing hit songs for at least 20 years, according to the AP.
If she wins, she'll become the third rapper to receive the honor, following inductees Jay Z (2017) and Jermaine Dupri (2018).
The Virginia native has blessed us with tons of hits over her 20+ career, including "Get Your Freak On," "Lose Control," and "Work It," along with writing hits for musical icons Beyonce, Whitney Houston and several Aaliyah tracks.
"I am Humbly Grateful to be nominated with so many other AMAZING writers,” she tweeted. “Congratulations to all of them also."

It's been announced that the British songbird will hit the stage on "Saturday Night Live" as the musical guest for the upcoming November 17th episode. Actor Steve Carrell has been tapped to host.
The R&B singer released her self-titled album October 12th and will be heading out on tour in January 2019.
Before Ella has us "trippin'" and "boo'd up," Lil Wayne will be performing on "SNL" this weekend for the first time in 8 years.
