Jennifer Lopez's love life is on cloud 9, but business is seemingly taking a hit.
The "World of Dance" judge, pictured here making her press rounds in NYC yesterday, is being sued for $6.5 million by a man named Alvin Gray-El who claims she stole his idea for the hit NBC dance competition series. He claims he pitched the idea for the show 10 years ago and believes he's owed some serious cash. He's requesting $5 million in actual damages and $1.5 million in punitive damages.
Gray-El filed a federal lawsuit this week against JLo, NBC, and famed choreographer Debbie Allen - even though she reportedly has nothing to do with the show. So, how did her name come up in the lawsuit?
In the court documents (obtained by The Blast), Gray-El claims he pitched the idea of a show titled "Let's Start The Dance" in 2009. He alleges he faxed a letter to Debbie Allen and her production company to see if she would be interested in producing the show. He never heard back.
Gray-El said he had the show registered with the U.S. Copyright Office in 2010,.
Years later, he discovered "World of Dance" was in the works at NBC in 2017 and he tried to contact the network to notify them of the copyright infringement, but says he never heard back.
It's unclear why Gray-El feels like his show went from Debbie Allen (who isn't even involved with the show), to JLo to NBC, but he's def looking to secure that bag.
Sources tell Page Six that “World of Dance” began as an organization that existed prior to the show’s creation and that NBC brought the idea to JLo. She reportedly didn’t come up with the idea herself.

Seemingly unbothered, JLo was made her way to Sirius Radio in NYC recently, rocking a bomb, extra-long bomb ponytail. Long ponys seem to be the must-rock trend this season.
