Aryn Drake-Lee just scored a victory in court as she battles against her estranged husband Jesse Williams in divorce court.
The soon-to-be ex-wife of the "Grey's Anatomy" star was awarded some of the money she was requesting in their ongoing divorce battle. The amount wasn't what she asked for, but it was close.
According to court documents The Blast got ahold of, the judge ruled that Aryn Drake-Lee was entitled to another $60,000 to go towards her attorney fees for trial preparation and attendance. She originally requested $100,000, so she received more than half.
The Blast reports:
In addition, Drake-Lee was asking for another $100k for her forensic accountant to go through Williams’ finances in preparation for the upcoming trial. Because there is some debate about exactly how many days of work will be required, the judge said the court will need “more detailed information” from Williams’ side before a ruling on that could be made.
As The Blast first reported, Jesse Williams and his ex were both in court last week, where the judge ruled in Drake-Lee’s favor but had not yet decided on any amounts.
Jesse has been trying to get the judge to deny her requests, saying he has already paid her $270,000 for her legal bills since the start of the case.
The actor argued Aryn is capable of contributing more toward her own fees, pointing out he pays her $100k a month in support alone. He has accused her of using her support to buy artwork and not pay her lawyers.
When the trial rolls around, Aryn is expected to argue that the support Jesse provides shouldn't be reduced. He has been trying to get the $100,000 he pays her a month ($50K for child support/$50K for spousal support) reduced, saying its too high.
She also believes Williams owes her close to $1 million in retroactive support.
Jesse Williams currently pays her $100k a month in support ($50k for child and spousal). This number was based on his average monthly income of $521,000.
Drake-Lee and Williams currently have joint legal custody with a flexible physical custody plan to accommodate his “Grey’s Anatomy” shooting schedule.
She also wanted a consistent schedule, saying her ex doesn’t provide her with his “Grey’s” shooting schedule but wants him to turn it over weekly.
This week, Aryn opened up for the first time about her pending divorce with the "Grey's Anatomy" star. She talked about how people turned their backs on her and how the divorce fueled her to start creating her own new life, launching a new podcast. Aryn and Jesse tied the knot in 2012 and had two children together, Sadie, 5 and Maceo, 3. Jesse filed for divorce in 2017 and they have been fighting out it out ever since.
