“Go off Coco!” is what brown girls across the nation collectively shouted when tennis star Coco Gauff won the Wimbledon wild card tournament against repeat champion Venus Williams on July 5th. Fast forward to a few weeks later, and we see that admiration is not limited to little ladies as former First Lady Michelle Obama joined the legion of fans by tweeting photos of the two meeting recently.

“Thrilled to visit Coco Gauff today,” FLOTUS wrote. “A wonderful young woman who’s showing us that we don’t have to wait to see what the next generation can do,” she continued.
That wasn’t the only thing we didn’t have to wait for as Gauff wasted no time in reciprocating the adulation by posting a photo of her own and simply tweeting, “Speechless."

During the meeting the two exchanged autographs - Mrs. Obama preferring hers on a tennis racket and Coco choosing to have the first lady’s ‘guvment’ grace the pages of her best-selling memoir, "Becoming." An inscription in Coco's copy of the memoir reads:
"To Coco, I wish you courage, strength, joy and love on your journey to become more. Warmly, Michelle Obama." Nice!
Although our invitation to the meet & greet got lost in the mail, we continue to stand for whatever these two are serving.
