Normani Kordei takes us back to the late '90's/early 2000's - airbrushed outfits and all - in her brand new video for "Motivation." Get into her living out her dream of being a chart topper on "106 & Park" - and a possible nod to her idol Beyoncé - inside.
While rocking her birth year, 1996, on an airbrushed graffiti top and skirt, Normani kills some choreography while walking around the neighborhood with her crew. Like, murdered it.
The vid opens up with her watching "106 & Park" (which aired from 2000-2014) as a little girl, then getting the motivation to bust out dance moves of her own while watching the biggest music videos of that moment. Fast forward to her being a bit more grown up, rocking an outfit & hair similar to Beyoncé's "Crazy In Love" video which topped the charts in 2003. Then, we get some "Check On It" vibes. Normani's made it no secret that Beyoncé is her idol and her motivation for becoming an artist - going from a group (Fifth Harmony) to solo, just like Beyoncé did.
Chick knows her music video history too. She incorporated nods to Britney Spears, Ciara, TLC and more.
Get into one of our fave YBF chicks dancing for her entire life on the block, in the rain, on the b-ball court and p-poppin' on a fence. Peep her Dave Meyers & Daniel Russell-directed "Motivation" video below:
Next up for Normani: She'll likely be pulling up at the 2019 MTV VMAS since she's nominated for Best R&B with 6Lack for their song "Waves".
