A Set It Off remake is coming down the pipeline. And Issa Rae is one who's giving it to us.
The "Insecure" co-creator has teamed up with New Line Cinema to reimage Set It Off, the 1996 cult classic crime thriller that starred Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Vivica A. Fox, and Kimberly Elise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Issa will produce and she may also star in the film. She'll be producing alongside her partner Montrel McKay via her Issa Rae Productions company.
Oh, and this just isn't some rumor. "Black Monday's" Syreeta Singleton and "Star's" Nina Gloster have already been hired to pen the script. Woot!
As you know, the original film featured four friends who were fed up with being broke and working dead end jobs, so they came together to plan a series of bank robberies. It def changed the game as it was the first time black female leads starred in an action thriller. It also helped catipult the ladies' acting careers, including director F. Gary Gray.
No word on who will star in the film, but we wonder if Queen, Jada, Vivica or Kimberly will return for the remake.
