The worldwide premiere of HUSTLERS went down during the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival inside Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto.
Jennifer Lopez was the talk of the evening for more reasons than one. The 50-year-old captured everyone’s attention in a yellow Masion Yeya concoction paired with Femme shoes and a Judith Leiber clutch. It’s not our fave from the red carpet slayer, but chick def made sure all eyes were on her.
Of course, her fiance/biggest fan Alex Rodriguez was on the scene to celebrate his future wife's new movie.
JLo (above rocking Elie Saab for the film's afterparty) must have delivered a killer performance because there’s talk of the actress possibly receiving her very first Oscars nomination. Yes, all these years later, she’s just being recognized, if the rumors are true.
HUSTLERS is a dramedy about a group of New York strippers who team up to con male patrons on a quest to survive the Great Recession. As you know, JLo first made a splash on the Hollywood scene for her incredible portrayal of Latin recording artist Selena Quintanilla in the 1997 classic film, Selena. She has never received a nomination for her acting abilities, but that all may change soon.
While Oscar talk is BIG news, JLo was met with controversy on the red carpet at TIFF. Animal rights protestors came after the actress for wearing fur as she made her way down the carpet.
According to TMZ:
She tries to ignore the protesters, but she clearly heard them ... it was impossible not to. Organizations have been aggressive for years over the torture animals endure when they are often skinned alive and suffer a horrible death in order to manufacturer fur.
JLo is known for rocking fur. There’s reportedly scenes in the movie where JLo wears furs, but it’s unclear if it’s real or fake.
By the way, Jennifer Lopez will be honored with the fourth annual iHeartRadio Premio Corazón Latino Award at the 2019 iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina on November 2nd at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami. Congrats!
