AMA NOMINATIONS: Lil Nas X Scoops Up 5 Nods, Ella Mai & Khalid Grab 4 + Lizzo Will Battle For Best New Artist Award

The American Music Awards just announced the 2019 nominees and several of your YBF faves made the cut.

Lil Nas X made a huge splash on the music scene when he linked up with country singer Billy Ray Cyrus for his infectious hit, “Old Town Road.” The track shot through the music charts and broke the long-standing record for the most weeks at No.1 in the 60+ year history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He’s in the running for five awards, including New Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Favorite Music Video, Favorite Song – Pop/Rock, and Favorite Song – Rap/Hip-Hop.

Coming in behind X, Ella Mai and Khalid landed four nominations each.

Not only did Ella nab several nominations, she was also tapped to kick off the festivities as the announcer of the nominees LIVE on ABC’s “Good Morning America" today. She was nominated for New Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B, Favorite Album – Soul/R&B (“Ella Mai”), and Favorite Song – Soul/R&B (“Trip”).

Our girl Lizzo nabbed 3 nominations - New Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B, and Favorite Song – Soul/R&B (“Juice”).

Drake copped 3 nominations for Artist of the Year, Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock, and Favorite Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop. Post Malone led the pack with 7 nominations, including Artist of the Year; Collaboration of the Year; Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock; Favorite Song – Pop/Rock; Favorite Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop; Favorite Album – Rap/Hip-Hop; Favorite Song – Rap/Hip-Hop

Chris Brown landed 2 nominations (Favorite Male Artist – Soul/R&B and Favorite Album – Soul/R&B) and so did Travis Scott (Favorite Album – Rap/Hip-Hop, Favorite Song – Rap/Hip-Hop). Cardi B was nominated for Favorite Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop, Beyonce was nominated for Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B and Meek Mill landed a nod for Favorite Album – Rap/Hip-Hop.

The 2019 American Music Awards air LIVE on ABC Sunday, November 24th at 8:00pm EST.
