Kanye West made a surprise visit to Howard University in Washington D.C. during Homecoming festivities over the weekend. And he served up his “Sunday Service” on the courtyard.
On Friday, it was announced that Ye would be making an impromptu appearance at the HBCU early Saturday morning and tickets sold out in minutes. Students were prepping for the Homecoming festivities, but they dropped everything to be in his presence.
Ye brought his wife, Kim Kardashian, and kids, North & Saint West, for the 8AM “Sunday Service” that actually went down on a Saturday. The Grammy Award winner performed his 2014 classic “Jesus Walks” along with his gospel choir performing a “Fade” rendition. Check it:

Not only did Ye bring the musical vibes, he also served up a 10-minute semi-sermon about slavery, African-Americans, and Christianity. It almost felt like a continuation of his “slavery was a choice” rant.

In one clip from his speech, he delivered a controversial comment about slavery that had his guitarist puzzled.
”Next time the slave nets come out, lets all try and not stand in one place,” he said.
He continued, “I was in debt, I was in the mental hospital, I was canceled but the power belongs to God. As we stand here right in the yard of Howard University, does this look like canceled to you?.”

Greg Carr, an associate professor at Howard's Department of Afro-American Studies, hopped on Twitter to ask folks to send Ye to the library because he had some books for him.
