Kevin Hart speaks out for the first time since he was severely injured in a car crash last month. Find out what he said, plus what police say caused the accident inside...
Kevin Hart has been radio silent since he was severely injured in a car crash last month. The actor/comedian was hospitalized after his souped-up 1970 Plymouth Barracuda careened off the side of Mulholland Highway. He had to undergo major back surgery and thankfully it was successful. He was discharged 10 days after the crash to recover in a rehabilitation facility.
However, the Night School actor hasn’t publicly spoke out since the accident…until now. Kev’s attorney, Andrew Brettler, released a statement where the Jumanji star mentions Jared Black and Rebecca Broxterman, the two other individuals who were in the car when the accident occurred.
“I have nothing but love for Jared and wish him and Rebecca a speedy recovery,” Kevin said.
Kev's attorney said the Ride Along actor is doing OK, still recovering from his injuries and doing physical therapy at home. So far, Kevin has reportedly only shot promotional material for his upcoming film Jumanji: The Next Level earlier this week. Although he can walk on his own, he is still sitting throughout most of the day and needs to work on his physical therapy.
“While he’s doing a little work here and there for the film, he doesn’t expect to be fully back to work until the new year,” Kevin's attorney said.
Yeah, so he won’t fully be back until 2020.
The police claim recklessness is to blame for the accident. Jared Black was turning on to Mulholland Highway near Malibu when he accelerated and lost control while driving actor's souped up vintage vehicle. Kevin and Jared’s fiancĂ©e, Rebecca Broxterman, were passengers in the car.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the car then careened down an embankment and slammed into a tree. Apparently, none of them were wearing seatbelts. The report stated Kevin and Jared suffered “major back injuries,” while Rebecca did not sustain major injuries. The report also said Jared was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time. The report said he violated the law, but did not say whether charges would be brought up.
We wish them all a speedy recovery.
