R&B crooner Tank gets REAL about why he decided to perform at DC Pride a few years ago while chopping it up on The YBF Podacst recently. His response, plus tons more about his wife, new music, singing group TGT and more….
R&B singer (and legend in the making) Tank pulled up at The YBF Podcast recently to chat with Natasha about everything - and we mean EVERYTHING. We love a good conversation around these parts and Tank totally delivered.
Two years ago, the R&B crooner performed at a Gay Pride event in Washington D.C. during the Memorial Day Weekend. And some folks’ panties are in a bunch over it. The problem? Apparently, some of his fans have an issue with him performing … shirtless for a gay pride event.
Folks were up in arms and legit doing the most over it too, but he didn’t see an issue with it. At all.
”I didn’t see it as an important thing for me to do when I was doing it,” he shared. “I saw it as, they made me an offer and I said yeah. Money is money and those are my fans.”
So why hadn’t he done it sooner? “They never asked me,” he said. Being shirtless is a part of his regular show and he said he wasn't changing it because of the audience.
Tank said he didn’t think performing at a Pride event was some “groundbreaking” thing to do, he was just collecting his coins.
“I just offered to perform. Why wouldn’t I go perform?.. I’ll entertain whoever. Those are people. We are all the same. You can’t sell love or promote love with hate.”
A word.
Tank also went in about all of the controversy over actor Malik Yoba admitting that he’s attracted to trans women.
“I don’t know Malik Yoba. I did chime in. That’s what he likes. How does this affect you? How does this affect your everyday life?”
He said Malik being attracted to trans women doesn’t affect your life in any way, so why do people care?
”Mind yo business,” he said. “I took that from Kevin Gates. Mind yo business. He’s not bothering nobody.”
We agree!
He didn’t stop there...
Tank and Natasha get super real about the fall out of him calling his biracial wife his black queen, Black people’s issues with biracial backgrounds, the double standards and why he chimed in on our IG post to defend his wife, who is responsible for the lack of representation of darker skin black women in Hollywood, why men walk away from a relationship even when they KNOW she’s the one (like he did years ago with his now-wife), why men are BABIES, why getting an album out with TGT was “the hardest process I’ve ever gone through” and why the thought of going through that “hell” again doesn’t make anyone in the group happy, his mixed feelings on gentrification and changes in major cities like where he grew up in the DC/Maryland area, how he keeps in tip top shape to give his wife the business in the bedroom, why saving peak-sex abilities for marriage is bullsh*t, and how he's now doing stand up comedy.
