Idris Elba Says He’s Taking A Break From Social Media & Now We’re All In Our Feels

We won't be seeing much of British hottie Idris Elba on social media! [insert crying eomiji] Find out why inside...

Idris Elba is seemingly fed up with social media. At least, at the current moment.

The CATS star revealed he’s about to take a social media break. The reason? It’s just TOO much and it's starting to take a toll.

“I’ve been trying to wean myself off. I used to post a lot more, but it’s been putting me off lately,” the Hobbs & Shaw actor told Fast Company in an interview. “And Twitter’s just not how I want to receive my news.”

It’s gotten to the point where social media literally makes him feel depressed.

"I read the news aggregated on my iPad, but I can’t check it constantly—I’m not proud of it, but it’s true—because it makes me feel depressed.”

Trust. We get it. However, we’re going to miss his posts. He loves sharing new projects he’s working on, flicks with his family and even shots of him pursuing his other passion: being a disc jockey.

Earlier this month, Idris had some fun with People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen:

Ha!

In actor news, the British hottie's production company Green Door Pictures is set to adapt Derek Owusu's "Teaching My Brother To Read" for television. Deadline reports:

The Luther star’s firm has optioned Owusu’s forthcoming book, which comes from #Merky Books, the Penguin Random House-backed imprint launched by the British musician.

The book, which was originally planned as an idea for a podcast, follows Owusu as he tries to connect with his brother, who was increasingly getting into trouble, by offering him £50 ($64) for every book he reads.

Owusu’s novel-in-verse That Reminds Me, which covers his growing up in foster care and mental breakdown, was published earlier this month and he has also hosted the Mostly Lit podcast and edited anthology Safe: On Black British Men Reclaiming Space.

By the way, Idris will appear on the big screen right before Christmas in his new movie CATS.
