Kanye West brought his Sunday Service to Houston. He fellowshipped with inmates in jail and then made his way to Joel Osteen's pulpit...and seemingly shaded Kirk Franklin. Get it all inside...
Surprise! Kanye West is in the building.
The Jesus Is King rapper popped up at Harris County Jail in Houston, TX for a surprise performance that left inmates in tears. It was previously reported he was heading to Houston, but he made a few stops before his Sunday Service at Joel Osteen’s megachurch.
The Grammy Award winner brought his choir along with him to perform tracks from his new gospel album, performing before more than 200 male inmates. He then moved to another facility and performed for a smaller crowd of women inmates.
"Say what you want about the man," said Jason Spencer, a public affairs director for the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "But Kanye West and his choir brought some light to people who needed it today at the Harris County Jail."

Texas governor Greg Abbott tweeted that it would be "great if other artists followed Kanye's lead."

On Sunday...
The "Follow God" rapper made his way to Joel Osteen’s megachurch, Lakewood Church, for another round of his Sunday Service. And you'll notice, the Chi-town rapper was all dressed up, a different look from his usual ragged sweatshirt and ripped jeans.
It’s reported the service began 40 minutes late as thousands of spectators (reportedly 16,000 people) were waited to be seated. Yeezy and his choir performed his classics like “Jesus Walks,” along with tracks from his ninth studio album, Jesus Is King, which was released last month.

During service, Ye reportedly performed gospel remixes to classic R&B ballads, including Destiny’s Child “Say My Name” (which he changed to Call His Name) and SWV's "Weak" and Destiny's Child's "Say My Name." Oh.

"One time for Rodney Reed and his family," West said during a rendition of his track, "Father God."
While speaking to the people, the 42-year-old rapper seemingly threw shots at gospel musician Kirk Franklin.
"Even after that I made the Life of Pablo album and said this is a gospel album, I didn't know how to totally make a gospel album and the Christians that were around were too beaten into submission by society to not speak up and profess the gospel to me because I was a superstar. But the only superstar is Jesus," he said.
Ye didn't say Kirk's name, however, Kirk was the only gospel artist on his PABLO album. The gospel musician was featured on Ye's track "Ultralight Beam," which also featured Chance the Rapper, Kelly Price and The Dream.
Ye (who was accompanied by his wife Kim Kardashian West and daughter North West) also reminded the crowd that he's basically the chosen one when it comes to music. He called himself "the greatest artist that God has ever created."
"All of that arrogance, and confidence and cockiness that y'all seen me use before God is now using for Him. Every time I stand up I feel that I'm standing up and drawing a line in the sand and saying I'm here in service to God and no weapons armed against me shall prosper.'
Then, Osteen asked him to speak about worshiping fame and money.
"It's like the devil stole all the good producers, all the good musicians, all the good artists, all the good designers, all the good business people and said, "you gotta come over and work for me." And now the trend, the shift, is going to change. Jesus has won the victory," Ye said to the audience.
"Now the greatest artist God ever created is now working for him," he said with smile.
He also talked a bit about his new album:
“Closed on Sunday (a song on the album) is the hardest record ever made because it’s talking about protecting your kids from the indoctrination of the media,’ West said.
