Angela Rye reveals the real reason she and Common called it quits again and then she shows off her new man. More inside…
Earlier this month, we told you CNN political analyst Angela Rye and rapper/actor Common had legit called it quits after a roller coaster of breakups to makeups. The couple started dating in summer of 2017, but the couple ended up calling it quits in March 2018.
In August 2019, Common opened up about going to therapy to “fix” himself before pursuing a relationship with Angela again. And things were back on…until they weren’t again. By the time October 2019 rolled around, Common and Angela were officially done again. There are rumors that Common is currently dating Tiffany Haddish, but that hasn’t been confirmed as of yet.
According to Angela they broke up for the second time in September 2019 “because we just want different things” after reuniting for about a year.
In a nutshell, Angela wanted kids and Common wasn’t sure if he did.
“This was around the time that I realized I was going to take the 2nd godson (the 9-year-old) more often. I had told him about it the day before. We had been talking for about 2 months about let’s see where things go because I’m leaning towards ‘I want kids’ and he was leaning towards ‘I don’t know.’ I think when somebody tells you I don’t know they just tell you that because they don’t really want to hurt you.”
Angela made it clear what she wanted out of the relationship and Common didn't want the same. "The Chi" actor/producer already has an adult daughter in law school and Angela said she understands “not wanting to start over being a thing.”
”I remember us having this conversation the day after we talked about Ryan, he said ‘I don’t know if I want to have kids.' So I said, ‘I don’t know what else there is to talk about.’ I think it was an impeccable parting of ways. We’re very clear about the fact that we were not aligned in those interests. We will always be friends. He’s a really good person.”
Angela then revealed she had received death threats both times while they were dating and called threats “ridiculous.”
”I wish Rashid [Common] the very best, but it was time for us to do something different.”
The 40-year-old (who recently celebrated her birthday) said she and Comon had a great relationship and she learned a lot from him. Angela said her relationship with Common positioned her to be in a more “open and receptive space for love” and what she requires out of her relationship for the person she’s dating now.

So, who’s she dating now? It appears to be restaurateur Karim Webb.
On Christmas Day, Angela posted a coupledom like photo on her IG stories of herself all cozy with a man in the pool with the caption, “What a gift you are.” Get your life, Angela.
Karim is a father-of-three and a Morehouse graduate who owns several Buffalo Wild Wings franchises in LA. One of Karim’s businesses is the Hilltop coffee shop in Inglewood that “Insecure” creator Issa Rae recently invested in.
