Apparently, Black Men Are In Jodie Turner-Smith’s DMs Calling Her A ‘Bed Wench’

Right after news broke that Queen & Slim actress Jodie Turner-Smith married actor Joshua Jackson (who is white), black men have allegedly been flooding her DMs with the ultimate disrespect. More inside…

Just a few days ago, reports were released that Queen & Slim actress Jodie Turner-Smith had tied the knot with "When They See Us" star Joshua Jackson. It’s also reported they’re expecting their first child together.

While some people have been showering the 33-year-old actress with congratulatory messages, others – in particular black men – have been flooding her direct messages with HATE. She hopped on Twitter to reveal she has been getting messages from black men and they have been busy calling her everything but a child of God, including a “bed wench.”

”Hey Siri, what is a “bed wench” and why are there bm in my dm’s calling me that?” she captioned a “U Mad?” gif on Twitter. 

If you didn’t know, “bed wench” is a derogatory term used for black women who date white men. It goes back to slavery times. These days, people call black women who choose to be with white men “bed wenches,” which there really isn't a comparison based on history. During slavery, "bed wenches" were female slaves FORECED to sleep with their slave masters. There's a huge difference there.

Here’s a good definition of the word as well:

 

"Bed wench" is a form of gendered abuse leveled at Black women by Black men. It's used to control and attack BW sexuality that isn't subservient to BM. It's also highly ironic considering dating rates among BW & BM.

What’s crazy is the fact that when a black man marries a white woman (or non-black woman), black men don’t even flinch. And if a black woman comments on their interracial coupling, she’s quickly labeled as a “bitter” woman. Let a black woman find her soul mate in a white man and she’s all types of derogatory terms. Hmph.
