NFL wide receiver Terrelle Pryor – who’s currently a free agent – almost died after a horrific fight with his girlfriend, Shalaya Briston.
According to reports, the 30-year-old athlete was in critical condition after being stabbed in the chest and shoulder by his 24-year-old girlfriend during a fight inside his Pittsburgh apartment.
In the court documents, both the former Oakland Raiders baller and his girlfriend were arrested. He was charged with simple assault for allegedly starting the brawl. She was hit the harder charges, which include charges of criminal attempted homicide and aggravated assault, both felonies. Sheesh. Peep her mugshot here.
As for Terrelle’s condition, he was upgraded to stable, but serious condition at a Pittsburgh hospital.
So here’s how it all started…
Terrelle and Shalaya went out for drinks with friends when they soon got into an argument. According to reports, Terrelle went back to his apartment and Shalaya stayed out with friends and went to another club. When Shalaya got home, Terrelle was allegedly pissed – waiting for her in the hallway. (We ALL can picture this, vividly.)
The NFL star reportedly knocked one of Shalaya’s female friends to the ground and then proceeded to fight Shalaya. They began to “tussle” and the fight spilled over inside the apartment and eventually into the kitchen where Shalaya, who is 5'6, 150-pounds, allegedly grabbed a sharp object and stabbed Terrelle, who is 6'4, 220-pounds. One of Shalaya’s friends rushed him to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
It seems as though not all the friends were here for saving Terrelle, though. By the way, both parties have been arrested. The site reports:
Cops say one of the witnesses was overheard saying Briston was "just defending herself and added, "We should have just let him die."
Pryor didn't die and was later arrested and charged with assault. Briston is facing two felony criminal charges -- aggravated assault and attempted homicide.
Sheesh. In the police report, they were described as “mutual combatants.” Shalaya is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail and bail was denied. She has a hearing scheduled for later this month.
It’s been said that a witness told police that their relationship has been "volatile at times" and that Terrelle is "always putting his hands on Ms. Briston,” so it sounds like this fight went more left than usual. Hopefully they both get the help they need to get out of this clearly toxic and dangerous relationship.
