Skiing star Lindsey Vonn is all about equality. So much so, she popped the question to her man/hockey star P.K. Subban to prove how important it is to her. Should women propose to men? Sound off inside…
Gender equality is a topic that’s often debated about when it comes to things like equal pay and representation. And Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn is all about equality for both men and women.
On Christmas Day, the skiing star pulled a “non-traditional” move and proposed to her now-fiancé/New Jersey Devils player P.K. Subban. Before you react, four months prior P.K. proposed to Lindsey. However, she feels like men deserve engagement rings just like women, so she copped him one and gave it to him on their 2-year anniversary.
”Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!!,” she captioned a picture of herself and P.K. in matching pajamas along with their dogs. “On our 2 year anniversary I returned the favor and asked PK to marry me... and he said yes,” she wrote.
"We talk about equality but actions speak louder than words. Men should get engagement rings too and this is what PK deserves. Can’t wait to marry you babe," the 35-year-old (who retired earlier this year from competitive skating) continued.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!! On our 2 year anniversary, in a “non traditional” move, I asked PK to marry me and he said, Yes ☺️! Women aren’t the only ones who should get engagement rings! #MerryChristmas #equality pic.twitter.com/hhdm85RoWi

The couple was showered with congratulatory messages, along with folks giving their opinions about a woman proposing to a man. Some are here for it, while others prefer tradition. Here are some of the reactions:
Lindsey Vonn is a perfect example of why white girls winning. She proposed to her black man on their 2 year anniversary. Stating they believe in real equality.

He should be embarrassed. It has nothing to do with equality. Women are equal but men should still propose

This is #equality. Men don’t always have to be the ones to ask.

Lindsey Vonn proposed to her man and i just want to say I'm here for women proposing to men, asking men out, and being real in this whole gender equality thing.
The fact that Lindsey is white and P.K. is black and some people are mad about it also makes it more satisfying to me

No offense to Lindsey Vonn but women should NOT be proposing to men. It's not about equality, it's about the tradition of a man honoring the values of a woman.

So, Lindsey didn't pop the question first, however, she felt her man should receive an engagement right just like she did. Is this a move you would choose in the name of equality or nah?
