Jodie Turner-Smith Says She Won't Be Raising Her Kids In The U.S. Because, White Supremacy + Says She Was Rejected By The Black Community

British babe Jodie Turner-Smith has starred in several short films and a few TV series, but she was placed on everyone’s radar when killed her lead role in Queen & Slim, alongside Daniel Kaluuya.

Last year was an epic year for the actress. Outside of starring in one of the best films of the year, she also (supposedly) copped a ring from her beau Joshua Jackson (reportedly - since she still won’t confirm) and a baby! She’s about seven months along now.

“I haven’t said to anybody, ‘Yeah, we got married.’ People are assuming whatever they want, but when people tell me ‘Congratulations’, I say ‘Thank you,'” she told The Sunday Times.

The 33-year-old actress – who looks AH-MAZING while pregnant by the way – said she’s not sure she wants to raise her future children in the United States. The reason? White supremacy and race relations.

“The racial dynamics over here are fraught,” she said. “White supremacy is overt. It’s the reason I don’t want to raise my kids here,” she revealed.

She’s also concerned with America’s gun policies:

”I don’t want my kids to grow up doing active shooter drills at school,” she said.

Since she said “England has gone off the rails,” she and her partner Joshua are considering to move to Canada.

When Jodie first came to America, she was “excited” to move here and meet other black people, but it was a “huge culture shock” for her because she claims she was “rejected by the black community.”

“They were like, ‘You talk like a white girl,'” she told The Times. “People would call me an Oreo. All I wanted was acceptance.”

 

That sucks, especially because we saw a ton of praise for her during her Queen & Slim promo run.

In just a few months, the YBF actress will be welcoming her first child with Joshua. There had been reports she and the 41-year-old tied the knot in 2018 after they were spotted getting a marriage license. However, she still hasn’t confirmed IF they’re married or not. And maybe she won’t since she received so much backlash when fans found out her partner was white.

"There was this wave of people who were upset that I was possibly married to a white man," she said. "In America, interracial dating or marriage is not something that is as accepted."

"Certain people feel strongly against it, in both communities," she continued. "I felt it from the black community. It is so complicated. I don’t want to give it too much energy. The horrific things that people were saying, it makes you … I’m learning there are certain things I have to really keep for myself.”

 

Maybe Canada might be the move for them to live a carefree life (well, as much as possible) with their newborn. It seems to be working out well for Meghan & Harry.  We wish them the best.
