THE TRIBUTE YOU NEED TO SEE: Elle Duncan’s Emotional Story About Kobe Bryant Being A 'Girl Dad' Will Have You In Tears

Grab your tissues. The Kobe Bryant story ESPN sports anchor Elle Duncan shared about how much the NBA legend loved being a “girl dad” will break you down. More inside…

The world knows Kobe Bryant as one of the best NBA players in the history of the sport. But, he was much more than that. He was a son, a husband, a brother and - likely his favorite title – a dad. Not just a dad, but a “girl dad.” He was the father of four beautiful girls, welcoming his 4th girl- Capri Bryant - last June, and loved being in a house full of females.

His eldest – Natalia Bryant – turned 17 on January 19th and Kobe posted a birthday tribute to the daughter that made him a father first:

A day before his untimely death, the father-of-four was spotted spending his Saturday with his 3-year-old baby girl Bianka Bella. The 41-year-old dad was seen playing at the center's koi pond and walking through the stores with Bianka at the Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach the night before the tragedy.

You can see the video here.

Sadly, Kobe lost his life the next day along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant.

The famed shooting guard loved being a dad and even moreso, a "girl dad."

ESPN sports anchor Elle Duncan shared her personal story of meeting Kobe during "Sports Center" yesterday. She said they had only met one time, but it left a lasting impact.

“It’s likely that you’re hearing many personal anecdotes about Kobe Bryant, so here’s mine,” Elle Duncan started off sayying. “I met Kobe one time, backstage at an event for ESPN in New York. And I saw him, and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh. That’s Kobe. I gotta get a picture for the ‘Gram. … I didn’t get it for a few minutes, because, as I approached him, he immediately commented on my rather large eight-month pregnant belly. ‘How are you? How close are you? What are you having?’ ‘A girl,’ I said, and he then high-fived me. ‘Girls are the best.’ ”

“It’s likely that you’re hearing many personal anecdotes about Kobe Bryant, so here’s mine,” ESPN’s Elle Duncan said during SportsCenter on Jan. 27, a day after the Los Angeles Lakers star and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant, were killed in a helicopter crash. “I met Kobe one time, backstage at an event for ESPN in New York. And I saw him, and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh. That’s Kobe. I gotta get a picture for the ‘Gram. I didn’t get it for a few minutes, because, as I approached him, he immediately commented on my rather large eight-month pregnant belly. ‘How are you? How close are you? What are you having?’ ‘A girl,’ I said, and he then high-fived me. ‘Girls are the best.’ ”

“I asked him advice on raising girls,” Elle continued, “seeing as though as he quite famously had three at the time. He said, ‘just be grateful that you’ve been given that gift because girls are amazing. His third daughter, Bianka, was about a year-and-a-half old at the time, so I asked if he wanted more children. He said that his wife, Vanessa [Bryant] really wanted to try again for a boy, but was sort of jokingly concerned that it would be another girl. And I was like 'Four girls? Are you joking? What would you think? How would you feel?'"

She said “without hesitation” that Kobe would “have five more girls if I could. I’m a girl dad.”

Elle then got pretty choked up talking about how Kobe praised Gianna's athletic abilities.

“When I reflect on the tragedy and the half-an-hour I spent with Kobe Bryant two years ago, I suppose the only small source of comfort for me is knowing he died doing what he loved the most. Being a dad. Being a girl dad.”

In honor of Kobe's legacy, ESPN re-aired the final NBA game of his career where he scored an astonishing 60 points against the Utah Jazz. The picture atop of Kobe and Gianna is right after that game that went down on April 13, 2016.

As we previously told you, the NBA postponed the Lakers vs. Clippers game that was scheduled for today.
