That viral video of Gervonta Davis snatching up his daughter’s mom Andretta Smothers has landed him in jail. Peep his mugshot and deets on his arrest inside…

Boxer Gervonta Davis has turned himself into police and has been charged with domestic violence after a video of him yanking up his daughter’s mom, Andretta "Dretta" Smothers, at a basketball game went viral.

In the clip, the WBA lightweight champion is seen violently snatching up his ex-girlfriend by her neck while yelling at her during a celebrity basketball game in Florida. No one stepped it to help. A few men were seen following behind both Gervonta and Dretta as their argument continued in the hallway.

The video footage was shared on Twitter and it went viral almost instantly. Check it:

This video of boxer #GervontaDavis and his child’s mother Andretta Smothers at the All Star Celebrity Basketball game in Miami yesterday is now going viral. Since we don’t see many men chiming in condemning this behavior, we’ll say it. Snatching up anyone, putting your hands on anyone, getting physically aggressive with anyone, and even being emotionally or verbally aggressive with anyone, is abuse. It’s wrong. And it’s unacceptable. It does not take punching, hitting, slapping, or spitting on someone for it to be deemed wrong and abusive. Period. It’s not funny. It’s not cute. It’s not showing “masculinity”. It’s 100% unacceptable. Video taken by Mr_Luares on Twitter

Here's another angle of the incident:

The 25-year-old boxer turned himself in to the Coral Gables PD today for the incident that happened on Saturday, February 1st. He was arrested and charged with one count of simple battery domestic violence. He was then transferred to Turner Guilford Correctional Center.

In a press release, the cops revealed: "As a result of an ongoing investigation after being notified through social media and the victim, on Feb. 1 2020, the above pictured subject was observed battering his former girlfriend whom have a child together. The below listed individual surrendered himself, to the Coral Gables Police detectives assigned to the case."

After the incident, Gervonta hopped on IG Stories to seemingly try to plead his case:

"I never once hit her..yea I was aggressive and told her come on… that’s the mother of my child I would never hurt her other than that happy New Years.. January was trassshhhh," he wrote.

Nah, bruh. Gervonta's actions are completely unacceptable. PERIOD. Snatching up anyone, putting your hands on anyone, getting physically aggressive with anyone, and even being emotionally or verbally aggressive with anyone, is abuse. It does not take punching, hitting, slapping, or spitting on someone for it to be deemed wrong and abusive. It's not funny, cute, nor is it showing masculinity in any form.

And the people defending this behavior are just as bad.

Since the incident, Gervonta - who's been dubbed as Floyd Mayweather's protege - has erased everything from his Instagram account with his profile showing zero posts:

Speaking of Floyd, Gervonta has been rumored to be dating Floyd's ex-Yaya. They were all boo'd up courtside at the Staples Center a few weeks ago:

Hmph.

It seems Gervonta may have an issue with keeping his hands to himself.

In March 2019, an arrest warrant for one count of misdemeanor assault was issued for him following an altercation at a mall in McLean, Virginia. He got into an argument with a man at an ATM at the Tysons Galleria in suburban Washington, D.C. When police arrived, the lightweight boxer began to get argumentative with them before reportedly shoving an officer.

Gervonta was also reportedly arrested for assault in 2017 after he allegedly punched a friends. That charge was later dropped.
