Pop Smoke's mother waved to fans as they drove past as fans chanted "Woo!" Last weekend, Pop Smoke's family honored him during a private ceremony. He was laid to rest in a Brooklyn cemetery after the procession.
“The family of Bashar ‘Pop Smoke’ Jackson would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone for your support,” Pop Smoke's family said in a statement last month. “Every prayer, call, and act of kindness is deeply appreciated as we mourn the loss of our son, brother, and friend.”
"Brooklyn knew him as Bashar. He was educated and nurtured in Brooklyn and his rise to fame all developed from the place he proudly represented. Within the last year, his extraordinary giftedness was revealed to the world, introducing Pop Smoke.
"Unfortunately, there are no public details available regarding the murder of our loved one. We ask for respect and responsible reporting during this critical time. Inaccurate reports only add unnecessary pain to a grieving family."
The murder investigation has reportedly been derailed since police are having a hard time collecting credible witness accounts of what happened. It's reported the LAPD is struggling to find credible witnesses since people are changing their stories or have proven to be unreliable. Some people allegedly involved are refusing to talk at all. They've also hit a lot of dead ends as they have been combing through several false leads. No arrests have been made.
The police are certain Pop's murder was a trageted hit and not a robbery, however, they have not be able to lock in on a motive.
As for his music...
50 Cent plans to keep his legacy alive by executive producing a posthumus album, which will include features by Drake, Chris Brown, Roddy Ricch and more. It's expected to drop in May.
