BAE already knows your angles best and since Idris Elba knows how to work a professional camera, he was able to beautifully capture his wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba for a magazine.
Idris is a man of many talents – he acts, he sings, he raps, he produces, he directs and he’s a DJ. The multi-hyphenated hottie is also a photographer. Of course. The British actor worked his magic behind the camera for his wife Sabrina’s DuJuor magazine Spring 2020 cover and spread. She served up regal realness in Dolce & Gabbana while posing it up in the streets in London.
“I feel very blessed that I met my soul mate. Who just happens to be Idris Elba,” the East African pageant queen tells the publication.
You see, the way Idris and Sabrina met and fell in love mimics a fairytale love story.
Effortlessly handsome Idris Elba and Dhowre Elba met at a scant jazz bar in Vancouver, British Columbia, when Elba was filming The Mountain Between Us alongside Kate Winslet, back in 2017. “Love at first sight” is the only way Elba has known how to describe it. In truth, it’s hard to imagine not noticing Dhowre Elba: Tall, leggy, and with a high-wattage smile that dominates any space, she is utterly captivating. Her warmth is genuine, and her tenderness catches you off guard.
After meeting and falling in love the rest is - as they say - history. 2018 kicked off in incredible time in their relationship and they have been all wrapped up in love ever since. Idris popped the question in February 2018 and they tied the knot in April 2019. They also made magazine history.
“So much happened,” Dhowre Elba says. “[Idris was named People’s] Sexiest Man Alive; we got married. I had to pinch myself. Is this life really happening right now?!” And add to that being the first-ever African couple on the cover of British Vogue, after the magazine captured their Marrakech nuptials—a symbolic meeting in the middle, as her family is originally from East Africa, and Elba’s is from West Africa.
It seems honesty is what keeps the couple's relationship afloat.
“Someone told me one time, ‘If you always tell the truth, you never have to lie,’” Idris Elba says. “It really, really stuck with me. I don’t like bullshitting people. I take what I am doing with my life in entertainment with a pinch of salt.”
We can't lie, when we learned Idris tied the knot, we (and the rest of the world) wept. Like, cried a thug tear or two. However, we're super happy he's happy. The lovebirds will celebrate their 1-year wedding anniversary in April. Congrats!
