Finally! Like the Lordt, OWN is always right on time. The new season of "Greenleaf" just got a premiere date, and we've got the first details about what to expect. Everything inside.
Our favorite church telenovela is back with season 5, and it's hitting our TVs this June!
Deborah Joy Winans, Merle Dandridge, Lynn Whitfield and the rest of the cast are about to bring us classic Charity, Grace & First Lady Mae church family drama once again - the perfect announcement coming off Easter Sunday.
Here's what we know so far:
In Season Five, The Greenleafs attempt to maintain a united front in the face of losing their church to Bob Whitmore and Harmony and Hope Ministries, but secrets past and present create what could be fatal fractures in the family’s fragile foundation. Greenleaf stars Merle Dandridge (“The Night Shift”) as Grace Greenleaf; Keith David (“Community”) as Bishop James Greenleaf; Lynn Whitfield (“The Josephine Baker Story”) as Lady Mae Greenleaf; Kim Hawthorne (“Rake”) as Kerissa Greenleaf; Lamman Rucker (“Meet the Browns”) as Jacob Greenleaf; and Deborah Joy Winans (“Whitney”) as Charity Greenleaf-Satterjee.
OWN also released a first-listen clip of the all-original new recording of “Goin Up Yonder,” by Grammy winning gospel artist Tramaine Hawkins. Check it:
The NAACP Award-winning drama ended with Kerissa Greenleaf admitting to her husband Jacob she caught Chlamydia after thot'ing around with Fernando Amable, Kerisa getting receipts about how Lady Mae & Pastor Greenleaf might have gained ownership of the estate illegally, Calvary Church facing demolishing, and a mystery man appearing at Faith's grave when Grace paid her late sister a visit.
BONUS: Can we take a moment to relive this epic a-- black mama slap moment?
Ha! Kerissa didn't even see that ish coming.
