Actor Jason Mitchell's having the worst 2020. Like, worse than the rest of us are having. Deets inside on his arrest for alleged possession of tons of drugs and weapons and how he's attempting to explain it.
"It was a misunderstanding" is the new "It wasn't me". While the rest of us our locked down on quarantine, embattled actor Jason Mitchell found his way out the house to travel to Mississippi with drugs and weapons allegedly in tow.
What was so important that he had to risk catching the 'Rona AND some felonies? His rep claims he will explain soon.
Here's what went down: Last night, the former "The Chi" actor was booked in Harris County, Mississippi after getting caught by cops with 2 pounds of weed, 1300 doses of MDMA, and a few weapons. He's facing four felonies all together - two for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, plus two more for possession of a weapon by a felon. He reportedly had a Glock 19 pistol and a mini Draco AK47 semi-automatic pistol on him.
The N.W.A. star was stopped in a regular traffic stop in his Yukon last night, and cops say the weed and ecstasy were "packaged in a manner consistent with a mid-level distribution operation." Well it does seem like a WHOLE lot of drugs to be doing by ones self. Still, Jason claims it's all just a misunderstanding.
A rep for Mitchell tells TMZ, "Jason is at home with his family right now, working on an amazing new project. News stories move fast and oftentimes without all of the facts. This misunderstanding will be resolved shortly. We trust that the court systems blind justice will protect Jason's rights and allow him to tell his story."
The rep did not get into specifics on the arrest or why Mitchell was charged, but continued, "During the Pandemic it's best we focus on the importance of our Nation growing back to our full capacity."
Is it possible he was actually trying to sell some drugs, even though he's now a big Hollywood actor?
Well, he just welcomed a new baby, and allegedly was evicted from his home shortly before that. It doesn't help he was kicked off "The Chi" and other upcoming projects, as well as dropped by his manager and agent, due to very serious sexual assault allegations by his former co-star. So, did he need the money? Possibly. The actor has not admitted to any wrongdoings as of yet.
