Minnesota Timberwolves Center Karl Anthony Towns is now facing the unfathomable - his mother, Jacqueline Towns - lost her battle with Coronavirus. The team's statement and Karl's previous plea to fans, inside.
Three weeks ago, 24-year-old Karl Anthony Towns (aka KAT) shared his mother's story in hopes of making people realize the seriousness of the disease and the precautions we all should be taking. He revealed his mother tested positive for Covid-19.
Shortly after, she was placed into a coma to continue fighting for her life. His father, Karl Sr., also tested positive for Covid-19 but made a full recovery.
This afternoon, Mrs. Towns sadly passed away, and the NBA star known for being extremely close to his mom, is getting an outpouring of support.
The Timberwolves issued a statement about Mrs. Townes stating:

Today is the day the man above gave me the most beautiful, loving, and important woman in my life. I’ve loved her since the very first time my eyes saw her and nothing has ever changed. LOVE YOU AND HAPPY BDAY MOM!
