Nas Says Black Women Were His Muse For ‘King’s Disease,’ Responds To Rumors Speculating Jay-Z Drops Music At The Same Time He Does & Why His Biggie Collab Never Happened

Nas is back with a new album and he's dishing on the makings of the project titled King's Diseas. He says black women were the muse of his newly released album, he addressed the rumors that say Jay-Z always drops music the same time as he does, why his Biggie collaboration never happened and much more. Get it all inside...

One of Hip Hop’s greatest lyrists is back making a splash on the music scene. And yes, he’s still fine as he was when he first stepped into the limelight.

Last week, Queensbridge’s Finest released his 13th album, King’s Disease. And for the first time in decade, Nas checked in with Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club” to chop it up about his new album, rumors about himself and Jay-Z, why his Biggie collaboration never came into fruition and more.

Nas and Jay-Z will forever be connected in Hip Hop as their feud is regarded as one of the greatest Hip Hop feuds of all time. Even though Nasir and Hov squashed their beef over 15 years ago, fans are convinced Jay has been trolling Nas throughout the years. After doing some research, fans compared the release dates of music between the artists and there are quite a few release dates that coincide with one another.

What does Nas have to say about it?

"I think that maybe there's an energy that we both have where maybe we like work around the same time,” he explained. “That’s some coincidence for you. I don’t know about that. I think things just happen. Synergy, man. Jay would know better than me,” he said.

We’re not sure if this answer will satisfy the fan conspiracies, but this is Nas’ story that he’s sticking to.

On his new album, he did a track with The Firm, reuniting the group for the first time in a long time. The reunion came about after Hit-Boy suggested AZ get on a track with Nas. Then, G-Code told Nas to hip Cormega & Foxy Brown to hop on the track.

Charlamagne noted he felt the album catered to black women more, which is something new for Nasir.

“They [black women] are the backbone. They are everything,” he said.

The Hip Hop titan said he didn’t have any songs about the women in his life, so he decided to change that. He said he needed that conversation and needed to be more transparent about women, dating and life.

The 46-year-old rapper also served up some throwback tea about why the collaboration between himself and The Notorious B.I.G. never came to fruition. Turns out, Mary Jane was the culprit.

"I got too high," Nas shared, explaining how a blunt with Biggie threw him off totally. "I was in the studio and Big was rolling up some of that chocolate from Brooklyn and he didn't warn me. It was just...I was zonked out, yo. There's pictures of that session out there, I think. Yeah, we was supposed to do a couple of songs, but I was going to remix some stuff for Ready to Die."

To Charlamagne’s surprise, Nas was supposed to drop bars on “Gimmie The Loot.” Charlamagne asked Nas why didn’t he just come back the next day to record.

“I was still high,” he responded. Ha! At the time, Nas was living in Long Island and didn’t feel like making a trip back into New York City.

“I’m not messing with Big. Man, that smoke. We were smokers and still are, still am,” he continued. “Coming to the city was like a mission. It was hard to get me to move, man,” he admitted.

A Nas x Biggie collaboration never materialized since Biggie was tragically killed in Los Angeles in 1997.

DJ Envy brought up a crazy story about a time when Nas pulled a gun out on him when he was 19. It’s not what you think though. Before DJ Envy became a popular DJ, he saw Nas in Queens and wanted to give him his mixtape. So, he rolled up on the rapper and said he had something for him. What he didn’t know is that Nas took “I have something for you” as a threat, so when Envy walked up to the car with his mixtape, Nas had his gun brandished.

”That was before body guards…before I was used to people recognizing me. That happened a couple of times and that definitely happened with DJ Envy. I didn’t know you at the time. It’s Jamaica Queens and you know how volatile Jamaica Queens is, so, love man."

Ha!

When asked who's going to win the VERZUZ Battle between Brandi and Monica, he said he loves them both. He also said it's going to be the "biggest VERZUZ of the year."

If you didn't know, Nas is really involved in the investment game and shared his first major investments were Genius, Dropbox and Coinbase. However, he doesn't like talking about his investments.

No mention of Doja Cat during the interview after he dissed her on a track on his album. And he likely won't talk about it in the future, even after she named one of her tracks after him in response called "N.A.S."
