If we had to do high school all over again, we def would want THESE two as teachers! Georgia teachers Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Evans remixed Jack Harlow’s “What’s Poppin” to celebrate virtual back-to-school. Get into their HOT and crafty bars inside…
We love us!
Black women always find a way to turn a negative into a positive. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, most school districts across the nation are kicking off the 2020-21 school year virtually.
Two bomb teachers/cheerleading coaches at Monroe Comprehensive High School in Georgia remixed a popular song right now with a scholastic twist. And these ladies should be signed - recording contract, management contract, something!
Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Evans flexed their lyrical skills on their own remix of Jack Harlow’s hit track that's all over TikTok, “What’s Poppin.” The ladies each created a video where they spit their rhymes about COVID-19 and returning to school virtually while their cheerleaders served as backup dancers – all wearing masks and social distancing.
BOTH ladies SLAYED their verses and the kids were super cute busting out their TikTok moves. Check it:
"We are in for a wild ride this school year, but let’s make the best of it! What better way to release all of the anxiety, doubts & fears of the school year than to dance & turn up What’s poppin’?! 20-21 School Year, Let’s get it!," Mrs. Williams captioned her music video.
“Tomorrow is the first day of virtual school !!," Mrs. Evans captioned her music video. "With all the uncertainty these past few months have brought, I want to be able to get my students excited for what’s to come. You all will still be great despite what we’ve been through. Let’s have a great year”
Jack Harlow approved! He hopped in Mrs. Williams comments on IG:
"Yeahhhhhh miss Williams," he commented.
These students are blessed to have teachers who care. These ladies went out of their way to create something relateable that would get the kids excited about coming back to school in an unconventional way.
"We wanted to meet them where they were, just to get them excited about virtual learning because some may feel kind of nervous or upset," Mrs. Evans told WFXL. "We just wanted to show them you can still have a good time and be ready to learn, virtually."
"Students are so excited to log in virtually with me and Mrs. Evans," Mrs. Williams shared. "They are just so excited to learn, and they are actually engaging in class like they already know me, its a wonderful feeling."
“It’s about the students and getting them excited for school and getting them excited about their teachers and where they are and exuding school pride where they are," said Mrs. Williams. "So, if the teachers hopped on they can do their own what’s poppin’ challenge and get the whole city excited.”
Oh, and they aren't finished yet. They're planning another remix soon.
"It is going to be a little different, it’s a surprise," Mrs Evans said. "We are going to give them another song, coming soon."
We're totally here for it. Poppin' indeed.
