A 29-year-old black father was shot 7 times in the back by a white police officer in Wisconsin yesterday. Sadly, three of his sons were present and watched in horror. Details inside…
Protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin has erupted after a white police officer shoots a black man several times in the back as the man’s kids watched in horror.
29-year-old Jacob Blake was reportedly shot in the back 7 times by a white police officer in front of his three sons after police were called to a domestic dispute.
A video of the shooting has gone viral. In the clip, you see Jacob – unarmed - walking away from officers, walking towards a vehicle to get inside. As he’s entering the vehicle one of the officers grab his shirt and then began to fire his gun at the man inside of the car. Another officer is seen right behind the officer who shot Jacob. It’s unclear if he fired any shots. People standing outside are heard screaming as Jacob is being shot.

Local reports indicate Jacob’s three sons were inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting. TRAGIC. Those young children will be traumatized FOR LIFE.
Witnesses on the scene told police Jacob wasn’t even involved in the domestic violence situation. They claim he was trying to break up a verbal altercation between two women yesterday evening.
Kenosha Police said in a statement that Jacob was provided immediate aid and he was transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.
Jacob is out of surgery and In ICU. We will continue to pray as he fights. We will not excuse the actions of the Kenosha Police department, but his mother asks everyone to please remain peaceful.

Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson said he wants to see a thorough investigation into Sunday's police shooting in Kenosha and is urging protests to remain peaceful while the investigation unfolds.
Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers spoke out against “excessive use of force and immediate escalation when engaging with Black Wisconsinites.” Peep his tweets below:
Tonight, Jacob Blake was shot in the back multiple times, in broad daylight, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Kathy and I join his family, friends, and neighbors in hoping earnestly that he will not succumb to his injuries.

And we stand against excessive use of force and immediate escalation when engaging with Black Wisconsinites.

I have said all along that although we must offer our empathy, equally important is our action. In the coming days, we will demand just that of elected officials in our state who have failed to recognize the racism in our state and our country for far too long.

Also a statement from a union representing the Kenosha Police officers was released about the officer-involved shooting:

Bernice King - daughter of civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. & Coretta Scott King - tweeted her frustrations about the shooting:
We shouldn’t have to see one more video of a Black human being brutalized and/or gunned down by police in a clear case of excessive or unwarranted force.
Anybody who doesn’t believe we are beyond a state of emergency is choosing to lack empathy and awareness.

What happened to police tackling and actually just stopping people from resisting arrest? We’re certainly not saying Jacob is a criminal, but to put this in perspective since "the other side" will say "innocent people don't resist arrest," implying those who do deserve to be shot or killed. Even if he was in the wrong in any way, THIS is how police handle unarmed people they believe are possible criminals in some way who resist arrest? He did not have to be shot 7 times to be taken into custody. PERIOD.
We pray he pulls through and sues the police department, the city and whomever else for everything they’re worth!
