Three months after Tory Lanez was arrested on a felony count for possession of a firearm, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has now charged the Canadian singer (real name Daystar Peterson) a felony count of assault in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion (real name Megan Pete), according to NY Times reporter Joe Coscarelli. If he’s convicted, he faces a possible maximum sentence of 22 years and 8 months in prison.
“The rap artist known as Tory Lanez has been charged with assaulting a female friend in the Hollywood Hills earlier this year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today,” the announcement said.
While the statement doesn’t identify Meg, the details in the report line up with the shooting incident that went down July 12th. Also, the “Savage” raptress identified Tory as the person who shot her in her feet as she exited the car they were traveling in, following a heated argument. They were partying with Kylie Jenner before the drama.
“Daystar Peterson aka Tory Lanez (dob 7/27/92) was charged today in case BA490599 with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm – personal use of a firearm – and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. The defendant also faces a gun allegation and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury.”
”His arraignment is scheduled for October 13th in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.”
According to Variety, Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta of the Family Violence Division is prosecuting the case.
“On July 12, the defendant and the 24-year-old victim got into an argument while riding in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills. The victim exited the vehicle and Peterson is accused of shooting several times at her feet and wounding her,” the statement said.
The report said the victim was a 24-year-old female, however, she was 25 at the time of the shooting.

Following the shooting, there was controversy about what actually happened since both Meg and Tory had remained mum about the shooting incident that went down July 12th. On August 20th, Meg confirmed it was Tory Lanez who shot her after she got fed up with all of the rumors circulating about the shooting incident. She said she didn’t tell on Tory because of the police brutality situations that have been happening.
Two weeks ago, the “Say It” rapper/singer released a new album titled DAYSTAR where he denied shooting Meg and made claims that she started a “smear campaign” against him. Then, Meg’s lawyer popped back, saying no matter what information the Canadian entertainer puts out, it still doesn’t change the facts.
And now he has a new felony charge. Maybe those who believed Meg was lying will believe her now.
