WATCH: Saweetie’s Set To Make Her Acting Debut On ‘Grown-Ish’ & We’re Here For The Boss Chick Vibes

Saweetie is ringing in 2021 with a new gig! The west coast raptress will be making her acting debut on an upcoming episode of “Grown-Ish” with Yara Shahidi. Deets inside…

Saweetie is ready for her close up!

The west coast raptress has “tapped in” to Hollywood, which is right up her alley because Saweetie is known for creating and delivering dope social media content. So, it’s natural she would get her feet wet in the acting world.

For her acting debut, the ICY GRL (no typo) will play an artist named Indigo, who is the protégé of artist Joey Bada$$. In the clip, Indigo demands Zoey Johnson (played by Yara Shahidi) to get her fashion game on point…ASAP. Like a boss!

Peep the midseason sneak peek below:

"I think Indigo is just a little bit of a bitch. She means well, but just sometimes she says the wrong things," Saweetie told EW. "My favorite thing about [playing] Indigo was when both her and Yara were on the same page and having a good time. You can just see the love and excitement that Indigo has for [Zoey]. I think the dynamic is like a cool, bossy, sometimes mean big sister to Yara. She loves her, but she just has a hard time showing you."

The “My Type” rapper credited her personal connection with Yara off-screen as what brought her character and Yara’s character’s interactions to life. She also dished on how Yara gave her advice about acting.

"I would ask [Yara] for advice, and she was so easy to work with, so it was an honor and a pleasure to work by with her," Saweetie shared "Even if I would mess up sometimes, she was just so helpful. It’s always nice to work with someone who wants you to do as good as them."

Also, Saweetie was super serious about doing a good job for her acting debut. She hired an acting coach to make sure she was ready to tackle the role.

"I wanted to make sure I delivered," she said. "I feel like with roles, whether if it’s an episode or in a music video, you always have to commit to the emotion of what you’re trying to portray."

By the way, Saweetie will appear in a few episodes this season.

Recently, Saweetie hopped on video conference to chop it up with fellow Bay Area artist Too Short.

During the chat, the 26-year-old rapper - who is biracial - nicely checked Too Short over his fetish for "mixed" women. Peep the clips above and tell us your thoughts!
