After football fans, celebs, and sports journalists started making some noise, the story about former Seattle Seahawks player Chad Wheeler assaulting his black girlfriend started to gain some traction. The domestic violence incident happened last weekend and there was hardly ANY coverage about it on any major network at the beginning of the week – including ESPN – until people started asking questions.

When black football players get caught up in domestic violence situations, the media reports on every single detail about the incident, as they should. However, they should do the same when a white player is involved. Same crimes, two systems.

The 27-year-old free agent – who said he would be taking a break from the game following the brutal attack – pleaded NOT guilty during his arraignment at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Washington State today. The 6-foot-7, 310-pound footballer was charged with first-degree domestic violence assault, domestic violence unlawful imprisonment, and resisting arrest by King County Prosecutors.

The first-degree domestic violence assault charge is a Class A felony in Washington. The domestic violence unlawful imprisonment charge is a Class C felony. He also has to wear an ankle monitoring to track his location at all times.

Chad was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence and booked into the King County Jail after an argument turned physical with his girlfriend, according to jail records. It’s reported Chad got upset his girlfriend wouldn’t BOW DOWN to him and he went into a rage. The former Giants player was released on $400,000 bail three days after he was arrested on suspicion of felony assault-domestic violence.

Again, this big football player who was in the midst of a manic episode and was "uncooperative", as police stated, resisted arrest and yet the officers never felt scared for their life enough to pull out their weapon. Some people aren’t so lucky.

The NOT guilty plea comes after Chad issued an apology addressing the incident. He blamed his actions on a “manic episode” and said he was stepping away from football to get the help he needs.

”Events happened over the weekend that transpired from a manic episode. I am deeply sorry for the pain and suffering that I have caused to Alleah and her family,” he tweeted. “I apologize profusely for the turmoil that I have caused to my family, teammates, fans and those closest to me. The most important thing right now is that Alleah gets the care she needs and I get help. Both are happening,” he continued.

It is time for me to walk away from football and get the help I need to never again pose a threat to another. I cannot express my sorrow or remorse enough. I am truly ashamed.

Likely ashamed he got caught!

Shortly before his “apology,” the Seahawks organization released him from the team. In their statement, they encouraged Chad “to get the help he needs.”
