Is Buckingham Palace doing damage control? That’s what a lot of people are thinking after Prince Charles randomly popped up for a photo-op at a Black church in London. Deets on his visit, plus what Meghan Markle’s former “Suits” co-star Wendell Pierce has to say about her interview inside….
It appears The Firm is working overtime to do damage control.
Prince Charles was spotted for the first time since the airing of his son Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah. And guess where he popped up at?! A Black church.
During the interview, Meghan and Harry revealed there was a “concerns and conversations” about “how dark” Archie’s skin would be. Neither would disclose WHO had these “concerns,” but Harry told Lady O it wasn’t Queen Elizabeth II or Prince Philip. Since then, people have been speculating who said it. And with Charles’ latest outing, it’s very…umm…telling. No pun intended.
Prince Harry’s dad made a stop at an NHS vaccine pop-up clinic held at Jesus House Church (a predominately Black church) in London yesterday (March 9th). The last time Prince Charles visited the church was in 2007 to celebrate the community work of Black Majority Churches,”
The official Clarence House Instagram account shared photos of Prince Charles mixing and mingling with healthcare workers and churchgoers – all of them (obviously) Black:
PR spin much? Twitter seems to think so:

An Instagram account used by the royal family just posted a series of pictures of Prince Charles with Black people at an NHS site. There’s a lot of speculation that he may have been the one who to raise concerns about Baby Archie’s skin color. https://t.co/Sr4g9Oig5n pic.twitter.com/U2WtiZdmqM

As Charles was leaving, a reporter asked him what he thought about Meg & Harry’s interview, but he didn’t answer. So, there’s that.
We already know what The Queen thinks about the interview.
Also…
Wendell Pierce – Meghan Markle’s former “Suits” co-star – has shared his thoughts about the headlining interview.
Wendell – who played Meghan’s on-screen father on the show for four years – chopped it up with LBC London radio station where he seemingly criticized the 39-year-old mom for airing out her “personal grievances.” He said with so much going on in the world, the interview was 'insignificant' as COVID-19 death tolls continued to rise.
“Today 3,000 people are going to die in America from Covid. A couple of hundred people are going to die, even this hour, in the UK.”
”It was quite insensitive and offensive that we are all complicit in this sort of palace… gossip in the midst of so much death. I think it is insignificant.”
He reportedly said the interview evoked Shakespeare's phrase “full of sound and fury signifying nothing.”
Wendell, people can walk and chew gum. Also, no one forced anyone to watch the broadcast. People tuned in because they wanted the earl gray tea.
After his remarks were published, he hopped on Twitter to clarify what he meant:
I just discovered my words are being used as an attack. Well done British Press. Clarity: The British monarchy is archaic in my American eyes. If slavery, colonialism and apartheid didn’t educate you that they are racist, you failed history.

I was fortunate to tell Meghan personally I wish her all the best. Predicting this hellacious maelstrom I also told her she would always have a friend in me. Because I had no interest in the interview doesn’t change that.

In no way am I insensitive to suicide. Unfortunately my family has suffered the pain of losing someone to suicide. I never was interviewed by the Daily Mail and their story manipulated my words in a radio interview. As I told Meghan, I support her and wish her all the best.

”The Wire” alum said his he’s not insensitive to suicide and that his words from the radio interview were misconstrued by the Daily Mail in their reporting.

Her other "Suits" co-stars Abigail Spencer and Patrick Adams also recently went off and defended her.
