British actress Jodie Turner-Smith weighs in on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal family exit. She said there was a “missed an opportunity” to modernize the monarchy. Deets inside…
British actress Jodie Turner-Smith believes Meghan Markle missed out on a huge opportunity to modernize the royal family. Or, did she mean the Royal Family is who missed out?
The 34-year-old actress – who portrays Queen Anne Boleyn in the upcoming Channel 5 series “Anne Boleyn” – recently chopped it up with The Telegraph where she weighed in on Meghan’s “missed opportunity” to modernize the royal family before she and Prince Harry made their controversial exit last year.
"I think that Meghan could have been that," she said during the interview. "It was a terrible missed opportunity, the way in which it was not allowed to be something that really modernizes that institution, and to change it to something for the better."
"I think that's why there's dysfunction there," the actress added.
The new mom didn’t place the blame on Meghan or the royal family in particular. But folks are coming for her head because they're intepreting this as a slight toward Meg.
The British actress said she didn’t consider herself a monarchist,” but mentioned how the institution needed to catch up with the times.
"I think it's interesting that the institution is not changing with the time, or quickly enough," the mom of one said. "We have to look at things in a modern context. And only then we will recognize that certain things are archaic, and don't really serve us as a community and are limiting us. I think we should keep those things in stories and move on to something else in reality."
Well, according to Prince William, the monarchy is not a racist family.......
As we previously noted, Jodie is taking over the role of Anne Boleyn, a woman who is a different race than herself.
"Anne Boleyn is a character loved by so many and a story so well known that people are attached to the way that it looks in their own imagination," she told The Telegraph. "So, when you introduce something that is so contrary there's going to be resistance. I think it's to be expected."
As you know, the Duke & Duchess of Sussex stepped away from their roles as senior members of the royal family in January 2020. Soon after, they relocated to California where they’re now working on new projects while raising their 2-year-old son, Archie. Not only that, Meg & Harry are expecting their second child, a daughter, who is due this summer. Loves it.
