The Golden State Warriors wore Mambacita outfits ahead of their game last night on what would have been Gianna Bryant’s 15th birthday. Gigi’s mom, Vanessa Bryant, celebrated her daughter’s birthday with her besties Lala Anthony and Ciara. May 1, 2021 would have been Gianna Bryant’s birthday. Sadly, the rising basketball star lost her life last January with her father/NBA icon Kobe Bryant and seven others in a helicopter crash.
In honor of Kobe Bryant’s daughter's birthday, the Golden State Warriors showed up at the Toyota Center in matching Mambacita outfits before going head-to-head against the Houston Rockets.
On social media, Vanessa thanked the team for honoring her daughter’s legacy:
”Thank you @warriors This is so touching. Happy birthday Gigi #MAMBACITA #2 @mambamambacitasports,” Kobe’s widow wrote in a caption of pictures of the players in the Mambacita ‘fits.
Warriors baller Steph Curry posted a picture of himself wearing his Mambacita outfit with the caption, “The legacy lives on #2! Happy birthday Gianna honored to celebrate you & all that this beautiful game meant to you #PlayGigisway @mambamambacitasports”
Phoenix Suns players and LeBron James also rocked the Mambacita outfits:

Before Gigi’s birthday, Vanessa Bryant announced the launch of the Mambacita clothing line, which she started in honor of her daughter, Gianna. The clothing launch comes weeks after Vanessa cut ties with NIKE on her late husband's behalf.
Mambacita was one of Gigi’s nicknames, which she received as a tribute to her father’s nickname, Mamba. The line was released on May 1st, which would have been Gigi’s 15th birthday.
100% of the proceeds will go to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, the nonprofit Vanessa started in the memory of Kobe and Gigi to benefit underserved youth in sports.
