‘This Is Us’ Ending With Season 6, Fans Want A Beth & Randall Spin-Off!

thisisusending

Grab your tissues. Your fave tearjerker series is coming to an end. “This Is Us” will end with Season 6. Fans are bummed about it, but they’re championing for a Beth & Randall spin-off.  More inside…

Life with the Pearsons is coming to an end.

”This Is Us” is one of NBC’s most popular shows. Every week, fans tuned in to see how the Big Three - Randall, Kate and Kevin Pearson – would navigate their individual lives while trying to maintain a tight family unit.

The award-winning series is a tearjerker for SURE, but fans love every minute of it. Each episode sent viewers through a range of emotions as one minute everyone is seemingly happy with the way life is going before something devastating happens (or reflecting on the past) and we’re all wiping tears from our faces. But that’s what made us all fall in love with the show – building connections with characters we relate to.

Now, it’s coming to an end. The hit family drama will end after Season 6, closing its run during the upcoming 2021-22 broadcast season. However, the cancellation news wasn’t a total surprise.

”This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman has been hinting the show would end with Season 6 for a few years.

In May 2019, NBC renewed “This Is Us” for three more seasons. After it was announced the show would be returning for several seasons, stars Sterling K Brown and Susan Kelechi Watson - who portray one of our fave black couples on primetime TV, Beth & Randall Pearson - had a whole twerk-off in the kitchen of their on-screen home, which you can check out HERE.

Before the renewal news was announced, Dan Fogelman hinted at the show’s endgame when he said the series had hit the “midpoint” after Season 3.

“We never set out to make a television series that was going to last 18 seasons, so we have a very direct plan. I have script pages I have written and I’m writing that really are deep, deep, deep into the future. We have a plan for what we’re going to do, and I know what the plan is,” he told THR in April 2019.

THR reports:

While an official count has yet to be determined, it’s expected that the final season will consist of around 18 episodes, likely enough to carry the series over the 100-episode threshold typically needed to secure a lucrative off-network syndication deal and triggering a cash infusion for Fogelman and Disney, which now owns the series after closing its $71.3 billion Fox deal a few years ago. That would create yet another revenue stream after Disney-owned Hulu in 2017 acquired SVOD rights to This Is Us in what sources at the time said was a record-breaking per-episode fee. Hulu and NBC shared co-exclusive rights to the series.

Fans have been in Sterling K. Brown’s comments, championing for a Beth & Randall spin-off:

@hannah.bouchard: Is it bad that I want the whole show to be Randall and Beth at this point. I feel like their marriage, individual struggles and growth & family are so much more fascinating and better acted. The other stories just don’t measure up

@missgugz: I wish Beth and Randall had a spin-off!

@lovecamisha: I do want and Randall and Beth spinoff.

@booskieswife: Lord, Jesus. Nooooooo! I can’t take it. They definitely need to give Randall and Beth a spin-off. I love their love I’ll take Kevin too. Toby and Kate are BORING

Sterling's role as Randall solidified his spot in Hollywood as he scooped up Primtime EMMY Awards, a Golden Globes award, NAACP Image Award, and Screen Actors Guild awards. We're sure it'll be bittersweet for everyone.

After this week's touching episode, Sterling shared a photo from an emotional scene that had his fans all in their feels:

And Susan Kelechi Watson shared some behind-the-scenes footage of herself in rehearsal for her ballet performance:

Man! We're going to miss them!

Catch a new episode of "This Is Us" on Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
