”The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah has filed a lawsuit against a New York-based hospital and orthopedic surgeon! He claims their negligence caused “severe and painful personal injuries, mental anguish and a loss of enjoyment of life.” Sheesh.
Details inside…
Trevor Noah is legally calling out a New York-based hospital and orthopedic surgeon after claims that he underwent a “botched” surgery procedure last year.
”The Daily Show” host pulled the trigger on a lawsuit against Hospital for Special Surgery and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Riley J. Williams, filed in Supreme Court in Manhattan, in relation to care Trevor received during "Aug. 25, 2020 through approximately Dec. 17, 2020."
The 37-year-old host claims the hospital and surgeon were “careless in failing to treat and care for [him] in a careful and skillful manner” after he underwent a surgery on November 23, 2020. It’s unclear what procedure he had done. The lawsuit claims the hospital staff failed to use proper diagnostic tests and failed to prescribe the proper medications.
As a result of the negligence, the lawsuit alleges, Noah "sustained permanent, severe and grievous injuries, mental anguish and a loss of enjoyment of life'
NBC News reports:
Noah "was rendered sick, sore, lame and disabled; sustained severe and painful personal injuries; sustained severe nervous shock, mental anguish, severe emotional distress and great physical pain; was confined to bed and home for a long period of time; was compelled to undergo hospital and medical aid, treatment and attention; has suffered loss of enjoyment of life; was prevented from engaging in his usual occupation for a long period of time; and since some of his injuries are of a permanent nature, he will continue to suffer similar damages in the future," the court documents say.
The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) said the allegations are "meritless."
”HSS is committed to excellence in the care we provide to each of the more than 150,000 patients we treat each year. This commitment has made HSS the world’s leading academic medical center specialized in musculoskeletal health, consistently ranked #1 in orthopedics globally and nationally," the statement reads.
The hospital can’t publicly address accusations or aspects of a patient’s care under federal privacy laws.
The suit seeks unspecified damages. Sheesh!
