REMEMBERING VIRGIL ABLOH: Lauryn Hill Brought To Tears, Kanye West Signs Autographs, Rihanna, A$AP, Drake & More Pay Their Respects In Chicago

Lauryn Hill got super emotional while performing during Virgil Abloh’s memorial service in the fashion designer’s hometown of Chicago. Tons of Virgil’s fashion friends were in the mix, including Kanye West and his estranged wife Kim K, Rihanna and her boyfriend A$AP Rocky, Drake and more. Get it all inside….

Fashion visionary Virgil Abloh's life was celebrated in his hometown of Chicago on Monday.

Tons of the designer’s close friends and family gathered at the Museum of Contemporary Art to celebrate his fruitful life, including Virgil’s longtime collaborator Kanye West and his estranged wife Kim Kardashian West, Drake, Rihanna and her boyfriend A$AP Rocky, Kid Cudi, Tyler the Creator and more.

Singer Lauryn Hill was tapped to perform her classic 1998 track “Everything Is Everything,” but she got choked up while performing, fighting back tears as she paid her respects to Virgil.

Last Sunday, 41-year-old fashion designer Virgil Abloh - the founder & CEO of Off-White - died following a private battle with a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma.

Dressed in all black, the living legend wiped away tears from her face as she began to harmonize.

”I wrote these words for everyone who struggles in their youth,” she sang lyrics from her chart-topper, "Everything Is Everything."

The fashion visionary was known for his innovative work at Louis Vuitton (one of the oldest and most powerful luxury groups) as the menswear artistic director.

In March 2018, Virgil became the first Black man to become an artistic director at Louis Vuitton, and the third to lead a French luxury fashion house. It’s not every day a Black man is at the top of a French heritage house. It’s almost unheard of, so the fact that Louis Vuitton shook things up with some melanin magic was music to our ears.

He broke barriers, he shifted the culture and opened doors for young, Black designers in high-end fashion. May he rest in POWER!
