Marques Houston - 1/3 of boyband Immature - is a dad!
The 40-year-old singer/“Sister, Sister” alum and his 30-year-old wife, Miya Dickey, are new parents. On December 2nd, the couple welcomed a daughter, who they named Zara. It’s the couple’s first child.
According to the new dad, Miya chose the name Zara because it’s “exotic” and she wanted to name their baby with a memorable name.
“Miya chose the name Zara because she just felt like it was exotic,” the Immature singer told US Weekly. “[There was] no special reason. She just wanted our girl to have a memorable name that wasn’t the average name. It still feels surreal, like, it hasn’t set in yet that we are actually not just babysitting one of our friends’ kids. But not getting any sleep definitely reminds us that we are now parents.”
The couple shared intimate shots with their new bundle of joy on social media to announce their new member of their growing family, decked out in Gucci for the photo-op.
Marques is proud to be a dad, specifically a “girl dad.”

A woman’s body is such an amazing creation to be able to carry a full human. I love you Miya, my wife, my rock, my baby mama to watch you carry our child was nothing short of a miracle! The couple decided not to share publicly that they were expecting prior to their baby girl’s arrival. We wonder if it was due to the backlash they received last year over their 20-year age gap when they revealed they were married.
”Thank you Jehovah!,” Miya captioned a photo of her new family.
Marques admitted that being a new parent “feels surreal” for both him and Miya.
“It hasn’t set in yet that we are actually not just baby-sitting one of our friends’ kids,” he said. “But not getting any sleep definitely reminds us that we are now parents.”
With a 2-carat princess-cut diamond set on a pave band and color coordinated outfits, singer/actor/producer Marques Houston and Miya Houston got engaged in March 2019. The couple tied the knot in August 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t putting a pause on their forever love.
The two started dating in September 2018, which is the first time they shared their status publicly. At the time, Miya was 18 and the couple decided to take their relationship to the next level when she reached 19 years of age, after five months of dating. At the time, Marques was well into his 30s.
Miya and Marques, who converted to being a Jehovah's Witness a couple years ago, shared pics from their special day, full of horseback riding on a beach and all their friends and family in tow. The most interesting part of the "family" present: Marques' controversial manager Chris Stokes, who Miya calls "dad." After the baby announcement, the former B2K manager shared a post on social media, congratulating Miya and Marques on their new baby:
Back in 2007 and 2010, former B2K member Raz-B accused their then-manager Chris Stokes of molestation of him and others in Immature/IMX/B2K. Chris denied all accusations. He seemed to stay Marques' life, though. And now, his "play daughter" is married to Marques.
