You can literally be minding your business and end up an assault victim. Unfortunately, that’s what happened to Olympic silver medalist Kim Glass after dining with a friend in Los Angles.
In videos shared to social media, the former Olympic volleyball star revealed horrific facial injuries she sustained when she was almost blinded by a homeless man who threw a metal pipe at her in Los Angeles. The brutal attack happened Saturday after she had lunch with a friend.
As you can see, her right eye was blackened and swollen shut. She also has a large gash on the bridge of her nose. The 37-year-old said she suffered multiple facial fractures and needed stitches to close the gashes on her face. Thankfully, doctors said her vision should eventually return to normal.

“What the f*ck is wrong with you?” someone asked as the suspect was held down by someone’s foot in the clip (above).
Nearby, you can see Kim, who won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, surrounded by a group of people as she held her damaged eye with blood splattered on the sidewalk all around her.
“Can you call my mom?” Kim asked the bystanders helping her. “He threw it so hard!,” she said, talking about the metal pipe her allegedly used in the attack. Watch the video above.
Benson took to social media to describe how he jumped into action once he heard a woman screaming.
”I was eating and heard a lady screaming, so I jumped out of my truck," he said. "A guy said he hurt her, I’m like who he pointed and buddy was trying to get away so I chased his b**** a** down dragged him Back, and stumped his face 1 time but held him down while other people was just looking scared, I was so mad thinking like what if it was someone I loved so I just did what real men do, protect our women, I hate this happened to her though.”
Since the attack, Benson said he has received thousands of messages from people, thanking him for stepping in. He shared he's declining any Cashapp offers because didn't help her looking for a reward. He only did what any real man would do in that situation and said he would have done the same thing if it were someone else.
Following the attack, Kim hit Benson up, thanking him for helping her:
Nice to know there are still good people in this world. As for the attacker, we hope he’s punished to the fullest extent of the law. She didn’t deserve that.
Family and friends have been sending Kim flowers, cards and candy, wishing her a speedy recovery:
Aww! We hope she recovers soon.
Stay safe everyone!
