Tragedy strikes again for former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes.
A year after losing her husband, NeNe Leakes is nursing her 23-year-old son, Brentt Leakes, back to health after two major medical emergencies. According to TMZ, Brentt Leakes - who appeared in some "RHOA" episodes - was in Atlanta earlier this month when he suffered both a heart attack and a stroke. Thankfully, Brentt was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention and is now on the road to recovery.
Sources tell TMZ, Brentt was hospitalized for several days before he was released into rehab. Everyone around him is expecting him to fully record, according to sources. Unfortunately, this news comes a little over a year after Brentt’s dad, Gregg Leakes, passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Some folks speculated if Brentt maybe had a reaction to drugs after suffering two major health issues at such a young age.
The “RHOA” HBIC took to social media to address the reports about her son’s health. While this wasn’t the way she wanted to speak out about her son’s health, she felt it was important to get the correct story out about what happened to her son.
NeNe said two weeks ago today, Brentt had congestive heart failure and a stroke. She made it clear Brentt “doesn’t do drugs or alcohol” and that he was tested for those things. She said he was also tested for HIV. The former “RHOA” star said doctors believe Brentt may have caught COVID unknowingly and believe he may have caught the Delta variant. Watch the clip below:
With his young age, folks were shocked to learn he suffered such major health problems. It doesn't help that NeNe's oldest son was previously involved in drugs and alcohol, so folks naturally thought Brentt was involved in those types of things as well. You’ll recall, NeNe’s eldest son, Bryson Bryant, was caught partying in photos that allegedly featured drugs and alcohol on the table in 2017. He also has a long history of run-ins with the law.
