Family, friends (including Drake), and fans have gathered at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena to pay their respects and celebrate the life of Migos rapper Takeoff. Go inside the celebration of life….

With heavy hearts, thousands of people gathered today at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta to pay their respects to Migos rapper Takeoff, who was tragically killed in Houston earlier this month. 

Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, was fatally shot during a private party at a bowling alley, where he was celebrating Jas Prince's birthday. Quavo, Takeoff’s uncle/Migos bandmate, was with him when the shooting occurred but was not injured. Two other people were shot and taken to the hospital.

Quality Control Music honcho Pierre "Pee" Thomas revealed that Takeoff was killed by a stray bullet. No arrests have been made in his death.

The 28-year-old rapper grew up in the city of Lawrenceville, GA, which is located right outside of Atlanta. Georgia residents were offered free tickets to attend the memorial, which quickly sold out.

Rapper/radio host Da Brat shared this video of the outside of the State Farm Arena right before his memorial service was scheduled to begin at noon:

Outside of the Arena, fans lined up in the rain to mourn the death of the rapper, where some fans wore t-shirts that read, “STOP THE VIOLENCE”:

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens honored Takeoff with the coveted Phoenix Award, which is the city's highest honor. Watch the clip above.

Quavo, Offset and his wife Cardi B were seen leaving Takeoff’s wake. The Migos were disbanded at the time of Takeoff's death. As a result, Quavo and Takeoff launched their own group, Unc & Phew, while Offset branched off to work on his solo career.

 

 

According to XXL, Offset decided to delay his next project, titled Blame It On Set, due to the sudden death of his cousin. The album was originally scheduled to be released on November 11th.

NBA star LeBron James and rapper Meek Mill also paid tribute to Takeoff on social media today:

 

 

”LONG LIVE THE [rocket emoji] MAN!!! Sky high YOUNG KING [crown emoji] TAKEOFF,” LeBron tweeted.

 

”Rip to TAKE OFF,” Meek tweeted before apologizing for missing the memorial service. “I barely believe in this sh*t we living in…. Prayers to your mother, family and the whole QC! You change to rules forsure my boy! and I apologize for missing your funeral ima forever rep y’all boys!"

Alicia Keys and Justin Bieber are also scheduled to perform. The funeral is currently still happening, so we will keep you in the loop as new details come in.
