The Obamas Drop Storytelling Gems As Their 1st Netflix Series Premieres + Oh, They Also Copped An Insane Martha's Vineyard Megamansion

Barack and Michelle Obama - our former leaders that we terribly miss - chop it up about their new Netflix documentary. Oh, they also just copped a mansion folks dream of. More inside...

We told you former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama signed a production deal with Netflix to bring tons of material WE can relate to. And now, their first documentary is here.

"AMERICAN FACTORY" is the first title from FLOTUS & POTUS' Higher Ground Productions. In anticipation of the premiere of their new Netflix series, Mr. & Mrs. O sat down with the filmmakers - Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar - to dish on the power of storytelling, building connections, celebrating the human spirit, and giving voice to people who do not typically appear on screen.

During the conversation, POTUS opened up about the power of storytelling, saying,

"We want people to be able to get outside of themselves and experience and understand the lives of somebody else. Which is what a good story does. And, that’s why we’re calling it Higher Ground. The idea is that rather than pursuing the lowest common denominator, let’s see if we can chase the highest one. Let’s see if we can all elevate a little bit outside of our immediate self-interest and our immediate fears and our immediate anxieties and kind of take a look around and say huh, we’re part of this larger thing. And if we can do that through some storytelling than it helps all of us feel some sort of solidarity with each other."

Mrs. O shared why she fell in love with the project:

“One of the many things I love about this film, this project that you two did together, is that you let people tell their own story. AMERICAN FACTORY doesn’t come in with a perspective; it’s not an editorial. I mean you truly let people speak for themselves, and that is a powerful thing that you don’t always see happen.”

By the way, "AMERICAN FACTORY" won the Directing Award: U.S. Documentary at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. It's currently streaming on Netflix and in select theaters..

In other news...

The Obamas just upgraded their living quarters to a mega-expensive, Martha's Vineyard estate.

According to TMZ, the YBF couple has been renting out the estate owned by Boston Celtics owner, Wyc Grousbeck, this summer and love it so much that they made an offer. It's reported the megamansion is listed at $14,850,000, but sources say they'll be coughing up "much less" for the property. However, the exact amount is unknown.

The site reports:

The estate -- incredible. It's 29 beachfront acres. The main residence is just shy of 6,900 square feet. It has 7 bedrooms, so Sasha and Malia have a place to crash, along with several of their friends.

It has the obligatory pool, an outdoor fireplace, a chef's kitchen, vaulted ceilings and 2 guest wings. It has incredible views, especially while soaking in the second-floor balcony Jacuzzi. The beachfront is private ... and comes with a boathouse. Downside -- only a 2-car garage!!! Sorry kids.

The estate is listed by the realtors who dominate the area -- Tom LeClair and Gerret Conover. They did not return our calls. The estate is currently in escrow and it's not a done deal just yet. We're told there are contingencies so it's possible it could fall apart, but we're told so far it's a go.

Presidential living post-White House.  Sheesh.
