We don’t know much when it comes to soccer (or fútbol as they call it overseas), but we know sexy. And Memphis Depay is fione.
The 25-year-old Dutch professional athlete is the high-flying, high-styling winger/forward for the France-based Olympique Lyon soccer team, with whom the top striker signed a 4.5-year contract in January 2017.
And he has accomplished quite a bit so far in his career. He played for Real Madrid, he won the Champions League, he nabbed the Golden Ball for the world’s best player, he dabbles in music, film and fashion. Oh, and he’s the ex-fiancée of Lori Harvey, Steve & Marjorie Harvey’s daughter. They called off their engagement in 2018 after dating for a long while. But she's not the only one flourishng since the break up.
Memphis is at the top of his game. Literally. And folks are taking notice.
The Do Gooder - who is one of the best attackers in soccer - covers one of three covers for VOGUE Man Netherland’s Fall/Winter 2019 issue.
”I’m so excited to grace the cover of Vogue...the leading and top fashion magazine in the world,” Memphis wrote on Instagram. “To be aligned with such a globally celebrated brand that is at the forefront of fashion is both an honor and a blessing. Thank you to the amazing team who made this special milestone happen for me!”
He also shared behind-the-scenes shots from his spread with the caption, “Live for the moments you can’t put into words yet always dreamed about. Creating and collaborating with the amazing team from @nlvogue was such an honor! Thank you for the privilege of gracing your cover! #Blessed”
He's hot.
Not only does Memphis kill it on the field, he's also putting in work for those facng obstacles, especially kids.
“I hope to inspire kids everywhere through my gift of soccer and let them know if they remain passionate and focused on their dreams while nurturing their individual talents they can achieve everything they set their minds and hearts to," Memphis said in a press release.
His philanthropic organization, Memphis Foundation, seeks to break the cycle of exclusion of blind and deaf youth by providing them access to sports and music through which they can be empowered and connect to their communities. His inso behind this cause? Each time he makes a goal, he puts his fingers in his ears to block out the cheers and points to the sky, signifying he's giving all glory to God. He says he's "deaf and blind" to the world around him so he can best listen to his own heart and spirit. He encourages kids facing obstacles to do the same.
Handsome and gives back? Loves it.
