A gunman entered a Texas church yesterday during Sunday's service and killed two people. One of the victim’s daughters is speaking out, revealing that she has forgiven the shooter. More inside…
Before wrapping up 2019, there are reports of another church shooting. The tragedy was extremely hard to watch as video from inside of the church went viral yesterday.
Yesterday, a gunman walked into the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas and opened fired killing two people. They are identified as 64-year-old Anthony “Tony” Wallace from Fort Worth and 67-year-old Richard White from River Oaks, according to reports. The men killed in the shooting were members of the church’s security team. Wallace was also a long-time deacon of the church.
Now, Wallace’s daughter – Tiffany Wallace – is speaking out.
As everyone tries to wrap their head around the senseless and tragic event, Tiffany is opening up about how she’s coping with the lost of her father.
“You don’t think it’s going to hit home, and the fact that it hit our home and someone that supports us and loves us and is our dad [is gone], that’s what hurts the most,” Tiffany Wallace said.
Unfortunately, Tiffany saw her father -who was also a husband, grandfather and a registered nurse - get murdered right in front of her inside of their church.
“It just happened so fast,” she said.
Tiffany said her father had just given out communion when a man she had never seen before entered the church and approached her father. She then explained the chain of events that happened:
“The guy just stood up from the pew, turned toward my dad and I guess he shot at the security guard,” she said. “I ran toward my dad and the last thing I remember is him asking for oxygen, and I was just holding him, telling him I loved him and that he was going to make it."
Sadly, he father died at the hospital due to his injuries.
Head of security, Jack Wilson, was the only person who shot at the gunman, which killed him. He has been identified as 43-year-old Keith Thomas Kinnunen, who is white. According to reports, he has a criminal past, which include charges of assault, theft, arson and possession of an illegal weapon in Texas, Oklahoma and New Jersey.
“You just wonder why. How can someone so evil -- the devil -- step into the church and do this?” she said.
Tiffany doesn't understand why this happened, however, she said she forgives the gunman.
“I forgive him [the gunman], and that’s the hardest thing to say,” she said.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott released a statement about the shooting:

— Gov. Greg Abbott (@GovAbbott) December 29, 2019
"Our hearts go out to the victims and families of those killed in the evil act of violence that occurred at the West Freeway Church of Christ,” Abbott said. “Places of worship are meant to be sacred, and I am grateful for the church members who acted quickly to take down the shooter and help prevent further loss of life.”
It is unclear if Mr. Wallace was targeted as part of a hate crime, or if this was completely random.
So sad and senseless. Prayers up for the victims and their families.
