Orlando Jones hopped on social media and revealed his popular character Mr. Nancy being tossed from “American Gods,” claiming he was fired over race. However, Fremantle claims he wasn’t fired over race at all. Everything inside…
“American Gods” fans aren’t going to like this!
Orlando Jones – who plays popular trickster god Anasni aka Mr. Nancy on the Fremantle-produced show “American Gods” – claims he was FIRED from the show. And it allegedly had to do with racism.
In several social media posts, Orlando said he was axed from the STARZ series for having “the wrong message for black America.”
”Correction: I was fired Sept 10, 2019 like @itsgabrielleu @OfficialMelB @NickCannon @heidiklum all have said @FremantleUS is a nightmare. They treated you like a 2nd class citizen for doing your job to well. Stay tuned. More to come. #AngryGetsShitDone,” he captioned a video explaining the recent firing.

Apparently, there's a new showrunner on the show and he's not hear for Mr. Nancy's truth serum.
“I’m not going to name names but the new season 3 showrunner is Connecticut born and Yale-educated, so he’s very smart and he thinks that Mr. Nancy’s angry, get shit done is the wrong message for black America,” Orlando said int he clip.
“This white man sits in that decision-making chair and I’m sure he has many black bffs who are his advisors and made it clear to him that if he did not get rid of that angry god Mr. Nancy he’d start a Denmark Vesey uprising in this country. I mean, what else could it be?” he questioned.
In another tweet, Orlando - who served as a writer and producer on Season 2 - wrote, "Thank you #AmericanGods fans. I know ya’ll have LOTS of questions about the firing. As always I promise to tell you the truth and nothing but. Always, Mr. Nancy.”
Yvette Nicole Brown reacted to his firing in which Orlando responded, "All True sis. They were exceptionally nasty and evil the way they did it."
Gabrielle Union - who was recently fired from the Fremantle-produced "America's Got Talent" as a judge - hopped on Twitter in his defense, requesting a sitdown with him:
“Ohhhhhhhhhhh … let’s chat my friend. #StrongerTogether,” the "L.A.’s Finest" star tweeted.
Hours after the now former "American Gods" put up his video, Fremantle responded. They claim his firing had nothing to do about race and everything to do about the show's plot. The series is based on Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed 2001 novel.
“The storylines of American Gods have continually shifted and evolved to reflect the complex mythology of the source material,” a Fremantle spokesperson told Deadline. “Mr. Jones’ option was not picked up because Mr. Nancy, among other characters, is not featured in the portion of the book we are focusing on within Season 3,” they added.
“Several new characters, many of which have already been announced, will be introduced into Shadow Moon’s world that will further contribute to the show’s legacy as one of the most diverse series on television,” the spokesperson continued.
Season 3 is currently in production.
Makes you wonder, what's really going on in Hollywood?
Mr. Nancy will always remain a fave, especially for this scene below:
